I am a new O/O. i leased onto the company i was a driver for. They are giving me 85% of the load. minus $40.00 office fee. I pay all tolls and fuel. i dont get a fuel card but i can get 40% upfront when i get loaded.
I had to rent a flatbed trailer from them for $175.00 + .03 per mile so i could haul for them.
Is this a decent deal? there is no FSC or anything else. They did loan me the registration and gear cost, but they are making me pay them back at $1000.00 a week. Any advice would be nice.
Need advice..

Depends on how much 85% is, trailer rental sounds ok until you tack on .03 cents per mile. 1k a week sounds pretty high for any payment.
-
85% of gross average haul is around 1-1.5k 500-600miles.
After the fact, but once i repay the loan not sure what to do.
Hope to have it payed off asap. Was not told about the $1000.00 a week untill after we registered the truck. Was told i would be treated fairly. Now thinking it doesn't feel to fair. lol Sitting in a truckstop with fuel gauge on empty and 60 more miles to go before i get next load. Learning the hard way i guess. lol -
- Well I hope things work out for you.
Unfortunately, this type of treatment is very typical and there are tons of posts on this board about this happening.
"Wasnt told about this or that or a surprise fee".
What made you want to make the jump into O/O vs being a company driver?
Try and hang in there I guess...get yourself out when its time (and in one piece) and find something else.

Who is the company? Sounds like a good place to avoid. I was in a lease to own deal several years ago. It was ok cuz my payments were percentage based. If they didn't give me miles, they didn't get paid. The fuel was cheap, .37/L. We were union and when we won a wage increase(More per mile) they raised the fuel cost. As drivers, until and if ever, we unite we're gonna keep getting screwed by someone.

Made the jump because of a great deal i fell on...2004 one owner Volvo 780 with a D12. mint condition inside and out. Runs like a top. So decided to buy it outright with my savings. unfortunately it also cleaned me out. Company told me they hated to lose me so would help with the registration...was so happy that i didnt get the full details untill it was to late. ;( Now i will need to learn how to be a O/O the hard way i guess. LOL

I would try and find a O/O company to lease on, if you wanted to go long haul.
-
To bad you bought it outright. Any O/O would have told you to put a large down payment; as large as you can; but keep enough back to live for at least a month.
-
A good point. When loads get scarce, the company drivers won't sit, you will.
