I would like some opinions on parking spots, shower facilities, food, safe places. Please share both sides of the coin, the good and the bad. Also shippers and receivers that have overnight parking or that "secret spot" you found nearby. We all run the same lanes and you could really help a fellow driver out.
How about an opinion about a Mom and Pop joint that we don't fuel at but has amazing food or facilities.

Why would we want to broadcast or competitive edge to our competition? Secret spots stay empty because we do not tell every new kid on the block about them.
Plenty of other threads about the good and the bad.Emulsified Thanks this. -
Any ohio turnpike service plaza is good with me, free clean showers, plenty of parking. As far as our customers, I go off the Qcomm if it says parking overnight I will go, otherwise will park close by, if i get there and find out I could have parked will send it up to dispatch to update directions.
Now for food, place called Rudy's in Tenn. but can't remember where, my trainer showed it to me, had good food. Myra's on 57 in Ill. is good, Perky's in Cleveland Tenn is good also. Smiley's on 81 i think in VA has a good bbq sammich. -
I hear Dipschitt's place always has cold beer and an extra bed... just gotta put up with a dipschitt. Albany "The Good Life City" GA.
I'll try to remember more that are more helpful... -
Bond Distribution/Baltimore, Md.
Small lot, no room for parking. The street out in front is lined with "No Parking" signs. Bond put these signs up so cars would not park there, but we could. Plenty of parking with no worries.
slim shady Thanks this. -
Glenwillow, I overnight park at the house hahahahahahahaha

TleaHeart - I can understand what you are saying - but with in our company we do not have the volume of trucks that you have so we share what we can since most of us will visit the same shipper/receiver from time to time.
There are some places I just tell my close friends about but that's it.ricrey99, MojoPotatoe, Cooper09 and 2 others Thank this. -
Whats your addy i deliver in Glenwillow tomorrow LOL .

Most shippers don't like trucks staying overnight because so many drivers have abused the privelege by throwing out trash, pee bottles and heaven only knows what else.
All you can do is call the receiver/shipper in advance and ask them if they have parking. Sometimes, while they don't, they can guide you to a nearby location that does.
Otherwise, it's just good trip planning and some luck. -
I like to stop for the night at most large weigh stations with "safe havens" or very large parking areas. I've never had an issue whats so ever. Many drivers worry about being hassled by the DOT. But for the almost 20 years I've been on the road with this company, I've never been hassled.
Here are some of the top states with plenty of parking at most of their "Super Coops" that I know of and have used:
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
Banning, CA (westbound)
AL/MS state-line on I-20
I do have many other secret parking spots that I've never had an issue at. So, I think for now, I'll keep them to myself
I'm sure over time, you'll discover your own secret parking spots that you wouldn't want to share to the world. Other wise, the next time you show up at your "secret spot", there will be 10 other rigs already there and no room for you to park.
ricrey99 and curtiscurse Thank this.
