I do not want to start any arguments here, so please, for those of you who drive L/O for trans am what do you like or don't like? I have seen a lot of bad comments but what are the good? What are your thoughts or experience? Just want some straight honest answers on the subject no petty gripes please, we are all adults. Thanka for the answers!

We had a T/A recruiter come talk to our class today. She's a company driver, with one year OTR with T/A. That should tell you something.

Well, if L/O was better than being a T/A company driver, don't you think she'd have gone the L/O route?

    Just sayin'

Ok I will put the good things about TransAm's lease purchase program.

    1. It makes TransAm a lot of money.
    2. A lease operator there don't have to worry about saving money for taxes because he won't make enough money to have to pay taxes.
    3. The T700 is a nice truck but that don't put money in your pocket.

I had to think hard to come up with those 3 things but I am pretty sure there isn't anything else good about it because .84 a mile is just pathetic to pay a owner operator.

I had 2 people tell me today that the rate is now $0.96, but I haven't been able to verify that. You can do better as a company driver than with a lease program paying a flat rate for mileage. Lease programs paying percentage are the only ones I'd consider. Just my thoughts.

I'm not here to bash the T/A lease program, just stating my opinion. I'm sure there are some people who are successful with it, as there are also some people who can live on a part time minimum wage income.

Trans Am pay is between 0.84 cents to 0.88 cents, With 0.88 cents being max pay plus a FSC, been 0.44-0.46 the past three months, not biggest pay but decent income for a rookie. If your new to trucking, I would not suggest leasing untill you know the ropes, really well. I see more L/O's fail simply becauase they are new to the industry, have poor work ethics, not properly trained, ETC. There are a bunch of reasons. As far as taxes go, Everything you purchase is a "Write Off" supplys, faxes, scales, food, repairs, ETC. Except tabacco, beer and that such. last year i AVG 3180 miles a week for a 52 week year, Now that being said i Took off a Total of 50 days off last year, So reality is I Avg more miles per week. MPG's is most important with a avg 1.30 a mile, I travel between 55-60 MPH, unless time is really needed. I have almost nothing negitive to say about T/A, I plan to stay with them long after I finish my lease, "Next March". I dont get on here much but I will try to if anyone has any questions and want real answers.

you must be a team, otherwise I see a lot of miles average for a single driver, also you probably had a team like NASCAR waiting for you at the dock to unload and loading at the same dock with no waiting time, IF you are a single driver.
