Getting into Hot Shooting

    Hello Everyone,

    I was wondering how do people get into hotshooting.

    What i mean is; do you have to buy your own equipment (truck & trailer), get your own authority, get your own insurance, and find your own loads?

    OR

    Could you work for someone? (Either with your own truck, or possibly their truck and trailer)

    I did, but non answer my question as far as being able to work for a company without your own pickup truck. I wanted to know if that is even an option or do you have to have your own equipment.

    I would think that there would be local expediters that have their own fleet or trucks and authority etc. and hire drivers. much like O/O's with class 8 equipment. I'm sure not all who run hot shot are running their own stuff there must be jobs driving for one.

    im a company driver and I run hotshot. Look around and see who is hiring in your area. Jobs are far a few between for this kinda work and the pay is not as much as a big rig.

    Own authority and equipment will pay the best after you get through a introductory period.

    Good money with the right connections .Yes u need ur own equipment and authority +ins and other stuff .Once u make it over the hurdles .i comes natural.ive been at it now for a few .and like it better then class 8 trucks ,in which i had also for 8 yrs .
