I never thought it would have changed so much in 17 years.
You could stay informed on a lot of stuff back then.
Now, you may as well talk to the guy in the seat next to you than on the CB.
And I drive solo.
No, CB, For 6 years, What have I missed?

Me either,CB is just a luxury item.Wargames Thanks this.

CB chatter is mostly annoying. All you hear is screaming, cursing, static, and mostly nonsense.
MNdriver, Wargames and Onetruckpony Thank this. -
It was that way 20 years ago too.
But a lot friendlier.Wargames Thanks this. -
Well i agree with the crap that comes over the airwaves can be annoying but, when someone points out to you the the 5 mile backup in front of you due to the accident and affords you the chance to get off the big road and go around,i think putting up with the stuff is worth it. And to all the Meatheads that are unwilling to let your brother truckers know what is going on in front of them,a lifetime supply of flat tires to you.
xFreeWord420x, Numb, LaBubba and 3 others Thank this. -
I only turn off my radio on the Atchafalaya basin bridge because of all the griping and when I go through Dallas near Bonnie View Rd.
-
to many cb rambos for my liking.... i only turn it on when im on the open road...get close to a truck stop and i shut if off...ya aint missing to much brother War...just the same Dog and Pony Show day in and day out....
Wargames Thanks this. -
Like when someone is trying to back into a spot, and is having trouble.
Instead of offering to help, they all make fun of him on the CB.
Better off without it.Wargames and Onetruckpony Thank this. -
yeah aint that the truth.... or if someone is helping him the lot lizards are yapping...your right better off just flipping the switch...Wargames Thanks this. -
I had a very nice conversation a year or two ago coming across I 30 west. This drive and I were talking about what people call the "good old days" of trucking. We talked all the way from Mount Pleasant to Rockwall Texas. We didn't realize it, but we had an audience just listening in. When he went south on I-45 some driver asked me how you backed under a trailer with no spring brakes on it.
There are still a lot of good people in trucking. But the most important feature on a CB radio is still the off switch! Take away the audience, that is about the only way to fight it. I mean, how many times can you hear "I ain't wearing no panties"? I usually answer "Me neither! I'm wearing BVD's"? Then I turn if off.Wargames Thanks this.
