He also told me it was for four weeks with weekends off. That sucks #####. In a town not knowing anything or anyone there stuck in a hotel. I would rather go to school on weekends as well to get it done ASAP hopefully they will let me practice on weekends drop/hook backing and whatever else you can do in a parking lot that would be sweet. If I go away for a month I want every second devoted to learning what I can. But first things first hr needs to approve of me first.

I'm set to go but they still have no date as of yet.

I don't know anything about their driver school, but I do know that ABF is one of the best companies to drive for.
-
That's what I keep hearing, Hope the rumors are true.

LTL is where the money is at...Particularly linehaul. But even if you run the city, there is still money to be made, and you are guaranteed to be home every night.
Plus, the benefits at ABF are very good and they have a strong contract. -
So did you hear anything?
-
Yes I got the job from abf but it was casual and ups freight offerd me full time so I went with them
-
Hope it works out. Friend of mine worked for them for alittle, hours started dropping off too 32 hrs or less. He got in at Fedex.

I believe it was in harrisburg. I interviewed for ABF a few months ago and they were going to send me to that school. Its 4 weeks long, and they pay for everything and even give you some side money... I wouldve taken the job but I was scared of the extra board again and not being able to work... If I was guaranteed it I wouldve taken it, also terminal was a hour away from home. Only reason I went to YRC because its close and its an 8am start time everyday, doesnt change, and if no work you go home.
Honestly ABF is deff one of the best places to drive for from what I heard. The guy who interviewed me said the turnover rate is incredibly low and could be on the extra board for a very long time... But in the long run thats a good sign
