Not exactly.....you can hook your strap (the hook end) to the trailer frame.Inside the rub rail of course. I'm talking down low, by your "Prime" decal, under the reflective tape. Assuming that model trailer has a lip.

I ain't reading all 8 pages but a more correctly descriptive term I use is "choke wrap" or "choke chain".
A lot of guys use "belly" wrap (and they mostly have big bellies) but I never heard of "gut" wrap. Sounds like something they use at a meat processing facility.
And NO, nobody does this anymore. I would love to be a DOT officer!skellr Thanks this. -
Pyramid load of pipe, with no dock stands, belly wrap load with chain & binder. If coated pipe, belly wrap with with strap. Straps over top.
If using dock stands, strap over top and go.
If stripping layers of pipe with boards in between, throw strap between first or second layer for stability. Then another between third or fourth layer, and the rest over the top.
Some companies require you to chalk the boards as you load, for stability.
The first layer is the foundation of the load, stabilize with strap or chalks.Last edited: Apr 30, 2012

Hooking over the rubrail is how I was taught so....

I always gut or belly wrap when I haul pipe. pretty much anything that has that chance of walking on me, regardless of what the shape is. I wont take the chance. but one thing you always consider is when you belly wrap you have to remember it will pull that wrapped item towards the securement point.

I stay away from the buffet so I won't need a gut strap any time soon.

Used to be called a truss or a girdle!
