I am starting this thread to give info out to those seeking info on the reefer side...

I am starting reefer after my next hometime...which is probably next week...so we will see how it goes and I will try to document the ups and downs.....but my ADD will probably kick in and I may forget from time to time so someone kick me in the ### when I do..lol

Good luck...braver than me. I like sleeping at night too much to give it up for 0100-0500 delivery times. that .01/mile just dont seem worth it plus to have to babysit a reefer trailer (not to mention sleeping directly in front of it). Will be following nontheless because who knows maybe everything I have heard about it is wrong.

I learned to drive at CR England and pulled reefers for several years. You get used to the reefer running 5 feet from your head. It's actually better when it's set to continuous run instead of cycle sentry. At least then it's a constant noise and not a start stop all night. The weird delivery times I never got used to. It turns your days and weeks upside down. Oh well. I like the simple dry van now. :biggrin_2556:

well the good news is I won't have to do Canada...we don't have very many loads that go there....plus was told if the routing computer gives routing through Canada to ignore it...cause its too much of a pain in the butt with reefers...the loads that do go in...they NEVER pick up and always come out empty...so I won't have to deal with US Customs and their Cheery attitudes....I like the Canadians though...

I'm interested in following on this, I'm at a different REF carrier and just curious to see how others are doing it. Do you guys split often? I have so many questions, but I'll try to remain a lurker so I don't pester too often.
