Wouldn't it suck if you hit a jarring bump and that whole thing separated from the roof?
Not that it's going to happen, I guess anything is possible.

Thank you kind sir!
Took more head scratching time laying it all out than mounting time though

Looks good martin! Cant wait to see the A/c mounted up as well!
Also it would be interesting to know the weight of the A/C unit and generator if you have that information? -
Many thanks!
The EU3000is comes in at 134lbs mate.
The Dometic Commercial comes in right at 100lbs with top and bottom unit.
Cabinet/brackets for the generator and wiring etc I guess at @100lbs.
Total of 7.4 gallons of gas @56lbs?
So altogether @390lbs extra, when most states give a 400lb APU allowance
, or @150lbs LESS than a traditional APU system.
With the generator mounted, and my portable ac unit, I could still haul 57,400lbs on my RGN and be legal for Ia (12-40-40), so I am good for the weight myself.
MartinTerry270 and DodgeFarmBoy Thank this. -
Sorry to hear about the condenser... its always something.
I'm interested in that battery charger.. what kind is it, how many amps and where did you get it ? I saw some marine units at a Cobela's that were waterproof that were reasonably priced, but that is all I'm needing to do now. -
Here is the charger I got.

I thought about one mounted outside, but wanted to be able to control everything from inside the cab.

Point of no return....There is now a 14 1/4" x 14 1/4" hole in my roof!
Dometic gave me a partial refund instead of me waiting until NEXT WEEK for a new unit!
Pics to follow....
MartinGears Thanks this. -
As promised....
Marks for cutting.
Big hole!
top unit in place.
All done and blowing cold air.
Adapter cord to use the ac from an extension/shore power
All plugged into the EU3000
The conduit from the sleeper to the generator.
Looks like I may make a plywood surround for between the plastic face and the sleeper roof, will see how it does. I also had to slip 1" of plywood where the expanding foam was. The foam was crushing before the gasket/seal on the top unit was.
Will probably also make some angled aluminum pieces to direct the air flow lower down from the output vents.
MartinHopeOverMope, Terry270, Gears and 1 other person Thank this. -
What's the eu3000? Is that a generator?
-
Yes. It's a Honda EU3000is. It's gas powered but sips it mate. It is also about the quietest generator out there at @58 decibels at full load.
This is how I have it mounted.

It now also has a wireless remote start and stop system as of this past week.
