It gets a lot of attention but there are more dangerous passes in Oregon IMHO.
I ran back and forth over Cabbage every week for 8 months with SNI dedicated and quite a a number of times with May before that.
Lot's more trucks wreck in the curves on 84 in Eastern Oregon between Huntington and Baker City before even making it to Cabbage.

It's always good to have someone show you how to do something. Here is a series of good videos on chaining up.

at least he had the links (dogs as he calls them) on the right side.
Watched a guy put on 4 sets of 3-bars. Couple guys suggested he might want to flip them before he got the first set on.
"Aaah know what Aam doin'...."
Um...OK...

I'll admit when I don't know how to do something and chaining up is definitely not my forte'. Way I figured if it was bad enough to chain up I didn't need to be driving. Besides, us folks in the south ain't seen chains before much less use em' hahaha!

Should be some good vids on youtube driving over, up and down those passes!
Once you are used to driving out there and are comfortable, you will probably like the challenge of winter time driving. I personally have a blast in the winter. Not to mention all the action at the truck stops when the roads get shut down!
