I am always puzzled by their numbers though. OOS last year was right around 19% during the "blitz".
Now "normal" is down around 3%.
I am curious why 600% more people decide to take their OOS selves out on the highway those days. Or could it be that many are out there everyday(my personal observation and belief) and are just slipping through because of lax enforcement?
Yeah you may be doing your particular job exactly the same on those days. My point is all these agencies are tasked with assuring compliance. Now either your doing your job or not, but to say you'll do it better on some days(eg 72 Hr Roadcheck) patently implies your doing less than your job when that is not in effect.windsmith Thanks this. -
I don't know what they think.
But I do know it makes for a much easier inspection. My last inspection went as smooth as silk. Officer knew exactly what he was looking for.
Although I am sure the Banning scales are pissed off they no longer have access to logs past the 8th day. -
I remove all the extra pages from my book 8 is the magic number.
I ran accross a driver once said the dot man counted his book pages and said there wasn't 31 there? I think he replied: AND???Working Class Patriot, Meltom and Onetruckpony Thank this. -
8 is the magic number. All you have to have with you is the current day and the 7 previous.
You don't have to have the entire month. They don't have to be in order, they don't have to be in the same book, they don't have to be the same format (book/loose leaf).aiwiron, Onetruckpony, x#1 and 2 others Thank this. -
So you just have to have them? Whats your view if the printer is broken and a driver ask to email or fax them to the scalehouse?
I saw this once in court and I couldn't believe this woman was such a beitch.
guy couldn't print them and looking at them on screen wasn't good enough and they wouldn't let him fax them. -
If you are using a computer (not EOBR) for your logs, then you have to have your previous days log sheets printed out EACH DAY. (395.8 interpretations question 28.)
Looking at them on the screen is not good enough.
Whether or not I have a FAX machine has nothing to do with the requirement for you to maintain and present your logs.
If your printer is on the fritz, you may have to pick up an old fashioned paper log at the next truck stop and fill it out until you get your printer fixed.aiwiron Thanks this. -
All true. But Banning will look at everything you have.
I ran loose leaf for long time. Kept all logs in same binder. I only removed them when it got full It was comical watching him go through it.

How awful! I'll just have to continue doing the job I've been doing since I've been driving! How unfair!
I love to hear drivers panic over this and CSA.

My favorite tip for being prepared that they list is #2: "Have a valid CDL".
