Just thought I'd post my beef here. So, I got a pre hire from May in ID from a gal named "Voni" before I started school. It took me no joke a month to get this chick on the phone after I started school. (Got the pre hire before starting) After waiting forever for this chick, she finally calls be back after I had a different recruiter e-mail her...and she says well, you had some failure to pay tickets and no insurance tickets. Hmm...so, when I already told her this before the pre hire and these incidents were outside my even 5 year abstract...she says sorry we can't hire you. Kinda pisses me off a little, I chose to get my CDL because I was a victim of the economy and when you get laid off it's more important to keep a roof over your childrens head. So, after wasting my time waiting with her I'm onto different avenues now. Pretty chicken sh** move if ya ask me. But whatever, this happened for a reason...that reason being I'll be looking at better companies
No May for me...

Don't worry about it. There are a few of us that don't like may. May be you'll find a better company.
I think you'll do just fine without them. -
Swift or Werner will probably hire you. Maybe you can sign a lease with CR England
sky king Thanks this. -
Ya that would be an even worse idea. Don't give him any ideas.
-
Ya england
Lease
Train
Drive
First you run a business
Then you train so you can have a positive paycheck
Then you learn how to drive
That sign always made me wonder. I met a guy in utah once who worked there two days by himself he needed help how to do e logs. No problem but he was a lease op -
Knight is hiring, CRST & Covenant too

Sorry it didn't work out for this guy, however, May and other companies don't hire people every day for all kinds of different reasons. I had three pre-hire letters when I finished up driving school back in '09. Figured if one didn't work out the other one might. Turns out May hired me and I didn't have a pre-hire from them. The recruiting dept was fantastic to work with and they made the process very easy. Then again, I didn't have a whole bunch of baggage I left off my application either.sky king Thanks this. -
I didn't leave a bunch of "baggage" off my app. It was over 5 years ago and I told her in the interview anyway. There's no need for rude comments, I've been laid off for awhile and with a child and another one on the way, it's frustrating when someone offering you a job waists your time making your bills stack up that much more

I can understand your frustrations EE. It could of been someone up the ladder that eventually said no for some reason. I have heard of that happening at times. A guy that I went to school with and orientation with at May, went all the way through until day 3 and he was told he did not get approved by the last person that approves people. It could of been worse. At least this way you still have options open. I wish you luck in finding a place to call home.

Well, good thing I'm not going with May. I got a job from TWT in my home town, much better company and much better pay. Plus in a couple months I can switch to flatbed and be done with reefer! It's a good company, did my research and talked with drivers who have been with them for years...if you get hurt they put you on light duty as a instructor in their school. The only downside...is the driver trainer I have is a smoker and I'm not. The only guy they have available right now. Better to be driving than waiting for a non smoking instructor. So, my last words? Suck it May! Thanks guys
