Sleeper Birth while being loaded or unloaded

    Sounds like your company don't care if they make money or not.I always log only 15 minutes for loading and unloading then up to line 1.As long as you're not physically assisting or watching them ld/unld you then why remain on 4.FMCSA don't want you to falsify your logs well you logging line 4 and you're in the bunk sleeping is the same as lieing.

    All this should have been discussed during your interview . Once hired you have to accept their policies .

    Because the regulations stipulate that while your truck is being loaded or unloaded, or you are remaining in readiness to operate the CMV, that you are on duty.

    that makes alot of since but if im sleeping or taking my dog for a walk or on the computer im remaining on line 1 or 2.Heck you could be sitting in the dock for hrs,im not going to burn up my 70.

    Yes, it is. I am on line 3 or 4 from the time I roll out in the morning until I park the truck in the evening...unless I make a personal stop somewhere along the way.

    and my company has given me permission to log it on Line 1 or 2.

    So that is what I am doing since I am most likely sleeping then.

    Running otr, you can't log yourself on duty all the time at a shipper. Local guys maybe. In 6 years of driving I never had a company disapprove going 15 on duty and then to the sleeper. Dot has never said anything either.

    You can log sleep berth. I've done it for years and been through numerous audits and inspections.

    Each number below is a separate stipulation. "Other than" are the key words. You either have to straighten your safety person out or do it their way. DOT won't say a word. Ask Scalemaster, he'll tell you too.

    You log it as it happens. If you are in the sleeper berth, you are in the sleeper berth. Safety probably thinks you are on the dock and not in the SB. Cheater! lol

    Right now I drive locally and remain on 3 or 4 from the time I start till done,which is usually 10:30 am till midnight.But OTR the law wants to get technical well so can I.As long as im not physically working I will log it usually on line 1 because im not sleeping.I mean if you log line 4 but your sleeping or out talking to other drivers,you're not on duty.
