Um, yeah. JCW's 2nd trainer offered to pay him 14cpm.....uh...thanks but no thanks. Even if said trainer managed to pull off 5k weeks (he was NOT the greatest business man), that's a lot less than what we get w/ JCW running solo.

    MikeyB. Thanks this.

For gosh sakes... figure out what this trucking stuff is about before you tie a truck lease around your neck! If you're crazy enough to do it, you need some good reasons - a lot more money, more home time and "freedom" better not be among them. Driving solo is massively different than a team operation, leasing is a business, and you're new to trucking. You don't need a stinking truck lease on top of all of that!

Don't get me wrong in all of this - leasing can work well. But (and this is huge) you have to be ready for it.

    da1 Thanks this.

I would get out on your own, run company for awhile, learn the ropes and then switch over if you wish.

You try and tell em over and over and over again not to lease until they get a year or some years driving and get experience and money banked, but they see dollar signs not knowing all the costs involved, being fuel is the biggest cost of them all. I don't know much about a lease, but common sense tells me its not something to get into starting out as a newb, unless you have plenty of backup money to blow.:biggrin_25510: To all newbie or student drivers learning to drive a truck please don't ruin your life by leasing right now. Thanks for reading.
