Unload time was about 2 1/2 hours. No overnight parking and the only truck stop in the area is a dump and charges to park.

Not one of my favorites ....

Have you seen the people that occupy and work in Florida?... Its no wonder no work gets done or gets done slowly. I left there for a reason.

Orlando is one of the worst medium sized cities for Truck Parking for sure. And even though I live in Florida, I can agree that the shippers/recievers are some of the slowest around.

Had a load of plastic grocery bags going there several years ago, arrived 15 minutes before appointment. They gave me a door. About 5 minutes later they told me they needed a favor. This load was really supposed to go to another warehouse they rented, about 4 blocks away. Told me if I would move to the other warehouse, they would have a forklift waiting on me, be unloaded in 20 minutes. I agreed, and sure enough, when I got there I found a dock with some labor pool workers inside, forklift operator said he had orders to get me gone ASAP. He did, signed my paperwork, and away I went.
Gave bills to broker, who is also a good friend of mine, he paid me, all was well.
    Until 2 days later.
Broker called, very upset. Why had I not delivered the load ? I said remember you already paid me for it, no problems. I went to his office for a discussion.
Publix denied getting the load, said signature was bogus.
I told them about sending me to another place, they said no way.
Took about an hour to straighten it all out. Guard shack had a record of me arriving, then leaving with full load, escorted by one of fork-lift drivers in a van who had led the way because no one knew the address.Seems the plastic bags were for a special upcoming promotion, and they had rented extra space to store the stuff until they needed it,just forgot to tell everyone about it.
    That's trucking !

Ah... not so true. But to agree with your statement anyway....

That is exactly why I came to Ohio. All of the idiots are leaving here for Florida!

Little hint about finding somewhere to sleep in central Fla.
Lowes or Home depot parking lots
I live in Tampa and always see truckers passed out.
I also do this on the road and I know there won't be any spots at the truck stops or rest areas

Haha, Northest is the worst for parking.. Orlando isn't that bad. You just need to be observing the area to your consignee for a place to park. Not really hard to do.
