I have been thinking about making a career move and have heard or read more positive than negative things of Schneider. But I am wondering if they are Teamsters(the whole company or part of the company)?
Is Schneider in the Teamsters?

Nope, no Teamsters union there. Schneider is a pretty good company, as far as big companies go. I trained with Schneider, and drove team and solo for them for about 3 years. Overall, I'd go back to them, if it wasn't for them requiring hazmat.
-
thank you.

You're welcome.

Why is Hazmat a problem? is it difficult to get in your state? Here it is just a $39 fee. $35 for the background check and $4 for the duplicate license.
Oh, and you have to take the knowledge test.
The only reason I ask is that I'm going to take the hazmat knowledge test today so I'm set with to begin training with Schneider on Nov 3. I was just hoping there wasn't a big deal hauling hazmat stuff with Schneider. -
not anymore, if you have your hazmat, you better keep it, it is a 3 month waiting period while you apply for it, then you have the $99 fingerprinting
and all the fees for your background and ect, cost me about 180 buti got mine before they did the new process. -
schneider will also reimburse you 100% for the cost of getting your hazmat endorsement

Schneider, at one time, was a union shop. A few years ago there were less than a dozen union drivers left, and they were nearing retirement age. Not likely to be any left by now.
-
When I originally hired on they told me there was a part of the company called Schneider Transport...What it was, was the guys from a company that Schneider had bought out, and these guys were what was left of that outfit....There were only about maybe 20 of them in 2002, and probably fewer if any left by now....
There were a couple of consignees that hated when myself, or any other Schneider driver walked in the door, just because we were'nt union, and they were......Perkins Paper in Mass. comes to mind, though the other location in Portland ME was a joy to deliver to.... -
I actually had a Schneider Transport truck pass me the other day on I-10 in Texas or NM. So there is at least one left. The onlt difference in their trucks from Schneider National trucks is the words Schneider Transport on the door to get to the space under the bunk.
