Hello Guys, I've been told about this website through a couple of friends and i wanted to know if i could get an opinion or two.. I'm looking at going O/O here soon, preferable leasing to Landstar, if not Landstar, Mercer or CRST Malone....

    I'm looking at an 2004 W900 with 910,000 with an 475 Cummins 10spd 3.55 Rears 255 in WB for 35,000.... This has an 2 YR/200,000 Mile Warranty

and also i got my eyes on a

2004 379EXHD with 800K with an Fresh Complete Overhaul 475 Cat 10 Spd for 50K..

which would be a better buy?? or would neither?? I'm planning on pulling a flatbed if that would help...

I assume maybe the W900 would be the better choice but with 1 million miles on it even with the Warranty i'm sure its going to have it's problems..

and also i'm planning on putting down 15K for the truck if that helps..

depending on what is included in that warranty, i'd go with 900 and you BETTER be able to afford overhaul or an upgrade after 2yr/200k miles. :biggrin_25525:

Who is this warranty thru?? Is it Premium 2000, NTP or someother extended warranty company. Reason I ask is because you really, REALLY need to find out what is covered as some arent worth the paper they are wrote on. NTP ( National Truck Protection ) is a decent one from what I hear but the Premium 2000 warranty is junk IMO

I dont like either one...first both are bricks and so if fuel economy is a concern for you....second I personally prefer a 13 or 18spd tranny....make sure you are clear on the warranty I have heard that some places find a reason not to cover you and I think you would be hard pressed to find a company willing to warranty a truck with that many miles so be certain

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS DO NOT LEASE YOUR TRUCK TO CRST MALONE

Make a solid decision when that time comes but cross Malone off your list

buy what you want buddy but both of these have an EGR engine and have been and can continue to be trouble 2002 and older would be a better choice. Mercer is great they do have about 2000 trucks now malone is Ok I have been with both of them and did just fine CRST (Malone) really wants to lease purchase you a tractor and rent you a trailer that is where they make thier profit in my opinion I have always heard even before the name Landstar came about way back when it was Ryder Ranger that they would rape you I do not think any of that has changed. I listened to the CEO of landstar on a radio show a couple years ago . He told over the air how they hose thier operators (You had to listen closely to get it) and they had BCO,s calling in and thanking him. These are my opinions which are like rectums everyone has one and they all stink. Do what you think is best.

They are basically the same truck, buy the one you like best. The W9 sounds like the better deal if it has a good warranty. Or offer 45K for the pete. Plus I think the pete has the bridge motor. Check the vin and see if it has a "B" in the engine section, I have heard of people having trouble with this engine until they get it "unbridged"

Pete either has a single turbo bridge motor e ngine serial# prefix MBN or twin turbo acert CAT. I'd take either one over a Cummins put a couple or three grand into un-doing stock emissions and be happy with a freshly overhauled, tuned motor that will last. The 10 speed sucks I'd rather have a 13.

Hey rollin, if I buy an older Pete you going to come up and help me do an inframe? Keep changing my mind on what direction to go. But still have to work out details on selling my truck.
