..
I have a program its the same exact set up as my paper,
It's called eclipse log book... but im just testing the waters to see if anyone is using anything different before i invest 70$ on this. Money isn't a problem for the right program.

It works great for me. I designed my own log sheet, sent it to the Eclipse company, and they fixed their software to fill in the blanks where I had placed them. Great people.
-
I've heard it's good. Just make sure you print it out each day.
There was this old beitch in in. put a guy OOS cause his printer wouldn't print and she wouldn't look at the screen.Meltom Thanks this. -
She's just doing her job man. Makes little to no sense, but she's just doing her job. Well doing her job makes sense, it's not being able to look at a computer to see what you did that makes no sense and then on the other hand accepting an eLog because it's hooked to an ECM as far as the DOT knows.

Regulation states that if you use a laptop to do your logs, you MUST print out and sign each day's logs and have them available for inspection if stopped. Looking at the screen does not satisfy the regulation. Don't get onto the officer just because you don't agree with the regulation. She is just doing her job.

we use driversDailyLog. free updates for life, a onetime fee of $90.(i think) you can try it free for 30 days, we have been using it for 3 years and you can use it for more than 1 driver as long as they are using the same laptop (co-driver) and it will track BOTH drivers to keep you from loging things like 1 offduty and 1 driving...
just like paper logs you can go back and change things (if you need to
, if for some reason i needed to i could go back and change jan. logs today and just reprint them, some of the things it will track for you are days out (perdiem),Equipment record, fixed expense, expense, logs turned in, maintenance, manifest, motor carrier, revenue, trctor, trailer, trip, trip routed miles, codriver, you can change from us/canada rules.. you don't need to use all of it but you can.
had 1 dot ask me to print TODAYS so i did and he was fine, had 1 dot look at the laptop and ask "how can i tell if you are out of hr's..?" had to show him where the grid turned RED, had 1 dot see the laptop and said your good (didn't even look at the screen)
yes you are required to pint each day and hand sign IN INK and and keep hard copy or the last 7 days, have a paper log on hand so if your printer dies you can copy your log to paper until you can get the printer replaced.
ddl also has a list of companies that will take DDL logs and setups so it will print, look and scan just the same as a company paper log... we run for usx and the only thing that is not the same as their paper log is mine is on a longer paper -
So, if your log is done on a Qualcomm (certainly a computer) they MUST somehow print out the the log then sign them. Wonder how many e-log guys are actually doing this...? Gonna put them all OOS, to 'just' do your job?
-
Qualcomm and other integrated e-logs track the truck's movement. A laptop does not. Laptop= loose leaf.

C'mon man I expected more from you.

We've had this disscussion before. I know exactly what the rules state. The problem I have with it is they put forth that this is supposed to make us all safer,
when In all the years i've operated and been inspected( I use that term loosely) I have had my breakaway only checked twice and had brakes correctly noted once(without my help) Now how is this going to make us safer you not looking at a screen to see log entries when you don't even know if a vehicle has brakes? Would you care to guess how many times I've stood in scalehouse holding my freshly cleanlevel one report and looked at the officer and said you've just filed a falsified report?? more than I care to count me being the nice guy I am have let them correct their errors so as to reflect they really done something.
So all this talk of rules and regulations is meaningless when they aren't doing their job and only looking to harm someone and thas what I call what I mentioned prior. harmed by taking their money and a black mark on their record. Have you ever heard of the unclean hands doctrine or fruit of the poisonous tree? I would hazard a guess that more than90% of these fictious violations would disappear if someone took the time to investigate or complain. I know what a safe vehicle is and have been a class A mechanic for over thirty years. I still sign off on anual inspections for others.
We would be better served by the same equipmet the railroad uses and NO scalehouses and carrier police to harrass us.
