I still get mail from Werner asking me to come over and drive for them....
-
Surely you meant that you have ran over 3000 miles a week?

I am currently interested in Werner and I would like some concrete information as to the average number of miles routinely available to its OTR drivers on a weekly basis. I would be running out of Dallas, TX.

Best I can tell you would be that there are 2163 average miles available to any Werner driver in any area on a weekly basis.
The numbers used to get that average come from the FMCSA site using the number of vehicle miles traveled and number of power units that Werner has.
I would guess that the numbers reported there are miles traveled and not miles paid, so probably take at least 200 miles off of that for miles paid per week. I have no idea what the current starting OTR rate at Werner is, but if it were .26/mile then figure on getting about $520 gross pay per week as an OTR driver for Werner out of Dallas TX.
Using those numbers you can count on making $27k per year. You can make this much money by not seeing your home for 45 weeks per year. Remember the possible 7 weeks a year you will get to see your home come in periods of 3 or 4 days at a time. Also remember that if you get home on Saturday at 20:00 and have to leave Tuesday at 02:00 in the morning to be at a shipper at 05:00, you just had 3 days off.
You can do better than that, or worse than that with Werner. I worked for Werner for a little over four years and the least I made was 47k per year. However I did not drive out of Dallas TX or OTR. I would think long and hard before going to Werner as an OTR driver, I would consider all of my options and look for new ones as well.
I wish you the best of luck in your career as a driver. I also wish you good luck in ever getting any concrete information about anything in your career as a driver unless of course you are hauling concrete.Cochise Thanks this. -
Hey i heard something about if you get caught doing a u-turn, they'll fire you...Is this a real deal thing or is it b.s.? Just wondering...

Last time I did a shag in Dallas, picked up a split at the Dallas terminal to Laredo then picked up a bonded load that came out of Mexico and took it to Mississauga, Ontario. Then it seemed like I couldn't get out of the North East and all the snow and rain. Point is, don't refuse a load and you become a team player and your FM will take care of you.
