It really hit home today, the Frystown AllAmerician truckstop is completely gone. Yeah, I knew the fuel was distributed by Pilot, but the inside was still "Mom &Pop". People called us "Hon" they were nice to me. Now it's a Flying J. The cashier rudely told me that I should know what coffee pots were full, and pointed the full ones out with disgust. Yes, the smell in the bathroom is gone, but so is the friendly faces, the warm smiles and soothing voices when a driver is tired and hungry. I am truly sad to see this happen. Goodbye to a good old friend.
Good bye old friend

the great ones are falling fast. Whites in Raphine VA was another slap in the face as well.
-
I used to stop at Frystown all the time when I would get a run to Harrisburg or beyond (local dedicated van runs). Their burgers couldn't be beat, and were the closest to one you'd make at home with fresh ground meat as I'd found anywhere. Sad to see another good one fall by the wayside as the corporate giants suck up the old "mom & pops".

I suppose that they will now put in a Denny's? Midway isn't far from Frystown. I suppose you could go down the road and eat and park at the now Flying J.
-
I was told that Frystown will have a Huddle House...
-
At least they won't have a Denny's. But, Huddle House has a very limited menu when it comes to having a balanced diet.
-
It's balanced. One item, on the menu, is just as greasy as the next!

If fast food is in the truck stop that probably means that Pilot has taken over completely. Before, Pilot only had the fuel, according to what I was told by the ones who worked there. The food was usually pretty good at the old restaurant. I want a broader menu when I stop at a truck stop.

When I was growing up I lived about two miles north of the truckstop and we would go down at least once a week back in the 90's. It was really nice back then but then management ran it into the ground in the last few years until they went under. I was in there today to buy an atlas and its all new and shiny inside but it is missing that family feel now. My girlfriend and I ate at the Huddle House. I was less than impressed. Super greasy.

Who took over Whites?
