Truck won't be coming back. Used in the commission of a felony, it's seized, confiscated, hasta la buh byeee big truck....
Bogan's looking at anywhere from 6 to 9 months before his case is adjudicated unless by some small miracle they cut his ### loose.
Having crossed that bridge in El Paso and others along the border 100's of times, I simply cannot comprehend how the idiot found himself in Mexico in the first place.
I have nothing to declare officer

First thing I did was look up their SMS scores, because the whole thing stunk from the gitgo.. I mean, their are stupid people behind the wheel, but really, this goes beyond the pale.
Second thing that caught my eye was the lack of placards on the load. But looking further, for small arms ammo, all that it needs is for the ORM-D to be stickered on the pallets, not placarded on the trailer. I double checked that. And the reasoning behind that rule change was to accommodate package carriers such as FEDEX and UPS. Go figure. -
Tazz, I think they're American born. Bogan is one of these "new Muslims" that appended a Muslim surname to his name.
Anybody notice how Demco apparently doesn't have any cargo insurance? That makes it all the stranger.
And FYI, this $100,000.00 load of ammo would bring more than $750,000.00 on the street in Mexico with the bad boys. -
That depends on who you listen to when it comes to the definition of "small arms". Small arms ammo is defined as "22, 25, 38 (380-357), etc.
This type of ammo designed to fit AK's doesn't fall under that category. I can't get a definitive answer from my DOT person other than this. "If in doubt, placard it".
Either way, placarded or not, ANY ammo is ILLEGAL in Mexico and you have to have been living under a rock not to know that. Evidently he couldn't read signs as well....MexicoTrucker Thanks this. -
Rooster, That has been my position all along. All of these wingnuts saying he's innocent because he had a BOL, goes to church, his mommy loves him, all of this happy #########...

Exactly. The 2 things that made up my mind was his lying about not being able to turn around, and looking at DEMCO's safety scores. You will NEVER convince me that this was not rigged on purpose to get ammo to the cartels. The driver may have been set up but anyone that stupid deserves whatever comes his way! -
Anyone surprised? I'm not. Good to have friends in low places.

Investigation started on May 7, 2012. I can say with some certainty that FMCSA ramped up the investigation after Bogan was busted.
Considering all of this, Mekenye's credibility is below zero. -
Update, DEMCO got shut down.

I read a story that he stated his GPS malfunctioned. But he still could read a sign. I live in El Paso and deliver frequently in central near the border. Even if you accidentally exit onto US54 south from I-10 (which I think is what he did) from either direction which leads to the border crossing, there are signs just as you approach the border, fork left and you go to Juarez, fork right, it takes you to Paisano Blvd (US62/180). Right at the ramp going towards Paisano, it clearly states "TRUCKS NOT ENTERING MEXICO EXIT TO PAISANO BLVD" or something to that effect. It's not a tiny sign, it's clearly visible, written in English. If you are on US54 south and miss the junction with 10, simple, you don't take the ramp to Juarez (Exit 20B) to the right, just head straight and you can either exit onto Paisano Blvd (Exit 20A) which is the next ramp past the one to Mexico and make a uturn at the bottom of the ramp or keep heading south to where the road merges with Loop 375 (Exit 20) going either East or West. Neither freeway connects directly with the border, you HAVE to take an offramp. I honestly don't know how these drivers wind up in Mexico accidentally when it's so easy to avoid it. You have to have a serious brainfart. Who knows what was in his head.
