I've benn looking at the Texas Jobs and some say TWIC required..what is that and how hard is it to get :}

Your talking about the Transportation Worker Identification Credential. It's what we need to legally travel into the ports to make our delivery.
It's easy to get. You have to have a pretty clean criminal background, you fill out an application, then you travel to an enrollment center (most are located in cities with ports), where you will be fingerprinted. They say it can take 6 weeks to get the card but it only took mine two weeks to come back. They cost about $130!
Here is the website where you can locate a city where TWIC fingerprinting is done. Also, they will not mail you the card, you have to travel back to the place where you did the fingerprinting to pick it up in person....

Ok thx JahB, I,m lookin on craigs list to get an idea of who is paying what. I didn,t see hardly any winch truck jobs posted. I saw that Dillion had job postings in different areas, there starting pay depended on the area 16 to 18.00 per hr to start, raise after 6 months. Looks like the oil industy hasn,t changed since the 90,s. We hired a couple oil rig hands in the 90,s they made about 50% less per hr on the oil rigs, pretty much all they where worth, we had to fire them all. But not after trying everything,to get them with the program.

There are better places to look than craigslist, just saying. Try workforce texas.

I had been over in Texas for 2 weeks and I could not find anything, I have issues, I'm not going to go into here, So I post my resume on a Resume site and today a week and a day after I had returned home to Arizona I get an email, "Are you still looking for work?" I send back a reply,"I'm not there but what do you have to offer?" They send back a reply, "I need a driver to run Caliche or oil field dirt"(isn't this hazmat?) So I send them back a reply, "I don't have my hazmat but I can get it but can you tell me more? they reply "I need someone to start in the morning" Now this person never told me the name of his outfit or anything else, Just that he could put me in a truck no questions asked... Isn't this a bit strange??? Thanks.

I just received my CDL and still need to take my written test for tanker and hazmat. I've been trying to do a lot of research before making a final decision on which company to work for. Schneider has presented an opportunity in the Victoria area to drive tanker. Can anyone give me any feedback on this position with Schneider in that area?
