Do any of yall know how to use the icon optimized idling on a Volvo? I just started driving this truck and don't have any owner manuals or anything that helps.

Preface: I really don't know what I'm talking about. These are opinions.

I heard volvo is going away. Hearsay.

I like my 670, but it isn't really roomy

Turns tight and is easy as heck to back up in.

Quiet ride, but you really feel the bumps

Air horn is loud, but sounds lame

I don't have any ideas for you, but I thought I would share my opinion.

I too am having problems with air leaks. Mine goes from 140 to 100 every two minutes. It takes in the am twenty minutes to charge up to 100. It leaks off the primary tank to 60lbs then starts leaking secondary to 60. It never seems to leak down to 0.
I have replaced air dryer. I have replaced tractor protection valve. I have replaced air compressor. I have replaced some lines. I also have a need now for some hair.
I have spent thousands of dollars and to this date have an air leak. I have asked Volvo dealerships for help. They do help to some degree not charging me all the hours they spend looking but they shake their heads when I leave saying sorry.
The dealer in Hermiston, OR has helped so much I fee guilty going back.
I am forced to do one thing and that's to sell. Other than the air leak this truck is in great shape. I wanted to run it till 2014 and then buy another 780. Its a problem. If you find your air leak before the end of May 2012 let me know where to look.

it is a problem of some ISX with VGT. usually engine air actuators are supplied with acessory tank, but some early Version-2 were of unique design, and engine air solenoids are supplied from secondary tank. When you start engine you cant hear how does it loose air with engine noise) so try to block 6 ore 8 mm air line to engine air solenoids and you'd be surprized how well compressor charges air.

So try to change VGT air actuator, fan air actuator.

On all other trucks engine ore tranny solenoid air leak dups air from acessory tank (#4 tank in Europe) but not with 2003-2005 Version-2.

It is funny, but not all dealers know. Really to solve this kind of problen volvo pushes Argus on line analysis system and they want us ask quations and look for unswers in Argus, and this problem was descibed well many times in Argus, but mechanics do not like to use so simple thing as Internet.

I love my D13 780. Besides barely having any engine brake its a joke on this truck, like the maxforce enginesi would take a volvo engine over a Cummins anyday simply lasts longer, from what i see. Maybe the cummins is a little more wilder on the pull, but my d13 pulls just fine no complaints. One thing most people complain about is the front air suspension, i love it yes when im empty driving 70+ it is unstable and all over the road but under a load it rides like a dream. But i would love to own a 880 one day but we shall see

I own an 2007 780 with a D12 for 2yrs now , it eats egr valves like they were candy and they are not cheap. Mechanics tell me that is a common problem with the D12. the mpg is not so great either. I’m getting rid of mine. Have friends with the D13 and it is so much better, performance, mpg, etc. Don’t buy a D12 if you can get a D13. It’s much improved over the D12. I love the Volvo, the ride and handling is far superior to the Kenworth T-2000 I had. The automatic tranny is sweet and not just for sissies anymore! Go test drive one. They are also better insulated..cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. The extra roominess of the 780 is a real plus for me. One draw back is on the road you pretty much have to go to a Volvo Dealer to get it worked on unless someone can refer you to a good local Volvo mechanic. Good luck
