Wolfy,,what they dont know,,well they dont know,if you "know" what I "Mean" ttrconwy.jpg

And all it states is that you "onboard" prior to 0730(in your timezone) and after that you have up to a hour to respond to anyload call sent to your truck

Yeah, thats the way I have always done it. I had a nice long conversation with my dispatcher about this, and he said that the person who called me and was harrassing me about it was totally in the wrong. I am allowed to have a "reasonable" amount of time to respond and then to get rolling. If they were that desperate to have someone cover that load, then it should have been waiting for me when I got to my truck this morning. I used the prime example that if you were at a truckstop in between loads, taking a shower or getting something to eat, they have to allow you the time to respond....we are not paid hourlly, and you are not required to babysit the qualcomm, or the truck.

And BTW thats why I leave the celly in the truck when i get out,,get a FM that needs a right now answer and wham they are on the cellly wanting you to respond,,when I get out of truck,i check timme, know i have a hour to get back,,dont get "handcuffed" to your truck,,just a FYI:biggrin_25525:

I totally agree, and that is what some of these dispatchers want is for you to be handcuffed to your truck. I get out of the truck as often as I can, and I also leave the cell in the truck....mostly because I have this bad fear of losing it or dropping it while out of the truck....LOL.

Just let them know your a talker, worked well for me I've gone 2+ hrs not replying simply because I was talking to another driver at a t/s and my dispatchers all but 1 new enough to call my cell if I hadn't responded in about 45 min to see what was up, never mad just to fill me in.

When I board I do the same as you essentially, my truck is at the in-laws farm 2500 feet down the road and I will board the. Help with daily random stuff like getting hay, water, etc. Dispatch does the same thing if I forget to call opt. 5 or get preoccupied they will give me a ring. Policy is you must be boarded by 0730 local and DOES NOT say you must donate your time babysitting the truck and taddel box to respond immediately.

Slavery was outlawed awhile back I heard so I'm not in to working for free and I'm not off my home time until my employer has a means to put me to work and is paying me to do such, thats how I look at it.

What happened with you? Have you already explained it in the forum? Im still in the company but its only me and another dude from school that are still in it, out of 10 that got hired. Im teaming and i love it, its definitely way better than the first 8 months of solo baby sitting

What other jobs have you had where you show up to work, and then leave for an hour?. If you need more time off, take it. Otherwise, shouldn't you be expected to be available for work when you say you are? Sorry, but I don't see the big deal here. You knew the deal when you went back to your truck. Also, I never wait very long when coming back on duty from hometime. Sorry if I am missing something here, but saying you are ready to work means just that.

Ummmm....ok, whatever, mr I never wait very long when coming back on duty.....sometimes we do in Florida(as I am sure other places do also) So you think I should sit in my truck for sometimes hours and hours when I could be sitting at home and spending a little more time with my family? When I show up to work I am always early!! And ready to go if need be, if I leave for an hour are they going to dock me an hours pay? Think about it. We arent paid by the hour.
