He's right. The first several weeks solo were tough learning all the things we never encountered when I was on Blue's truck as well as all of the other crap. I'm now making as much as I was as a construction manager most weeks and I actually have enough after my expenses to start my retirement investing again. I consider this semi-retirement and every single day have the thought, "This is a great day to be a truck driver." (Okay, except today because I was heading for this cesspool, New Jersey. The best thing I ever did for my kids was move them away from here so they wouldn't grow up to be complete #####***** like everyone else here.) I've driven in 42 states in the last three and a half months and get to see things every day of the week most folks only see on TV.

As far as his purdy new truck goes, my purdier new/old truck will out hillclimb his all day long. I know this for a fact because I've driven both. Plus mine will go warpier speed because my governor is messed up and I keep forgetting to tell the shops to fix it...

oh and Bluebonn yes I'm sure it will get worse and after I went through getting a whole new dot phys exam this morning the rest of the day went pretty well.Although 4 of the "experienced" drivers got sent home,I'm not feeling too bad about it now,it relaxed me quite a bit actually, got through a bunch of paperwork and got a comdata card ,had a few presentations and we'll see what tomorrow brings.I feel bad for the guys that are not here any more but that is the chance we all take when comming here.( I've heard rumors about too much exp in automatics and not enough on standards) I have been told that the mentor that I'm trying to get paired with is a dang fine trainer so that shuold help alot too.

well folks another day of paperwork, videos, bank reps, heck y'all know the drill, told us to check out of the hotel in the morning and I stiil need to get with someone again to see if I am paired with the mentor of choice,if so I may have to wait on him for a couple days, which is ok too.I am guessing that if you don't have much patience that this is not a real likely job to have or go after but ya know what---it REALLY has to be better ths digging ditches, pouring concrete, and laying and repairing water and sewer pipes like the job I left to attend cdl school.Funny some of the things you will do to take care of your family, but that's why we are out here isn't it?
