I just traded my 379 Pete in for a Volvo VN670 because my Pete was gettin old & crappy fuel mileage
and I couldnt fit my stryker radio into the volvo in the CB cabinet without it sticking out 1/4 of the way so I bought a Cobra 29 LTD chrome and had it beafed up to 70 watts and I'm not anywhere close to satisfied with the performance of it, my question is does anyone out there do custom installs for a larger sized radio and install coax like factory in Volvos? ( I don't like running a coax thru the door, it looks like crap )
any suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance

How exactly was it "beefed" up? Unless you had something added to it, it's impossible to get that radio to that output.

I really don't think you need a physically big radio to do the job.

when tuned together will give you 30-40w carrier and 125-140w peak power as well as a receive preamp. Weather, memory, one of the best sounding factory mics ever made.

    Rgh662 and Big_m Thank this.

Thanks, I have thought of a kicker, but I'm still stuck with antenna mounting issues, a bird perch and running a coax thru the door is something I'm trying to avoid

I had a new board and finals put in, its typical to have a 29 beefed up to 30-70 watts

Your truck doesn't have mounts at the top of the mirrors?

Doesn't the CB mount on the dash in a 670? I thought the 780 has a CB cabinet. Unfortunately the bird perch is the simplest way to get a good grounded CB antennae mounted.

Not totally true. I have the 203 linear. I deadkey at 101 watts, not 30-40.

I understand Ram, that's how you run yours. I set them differently.

Ah, so you mean you change the tuning on the linear as well.
