    Hey Rambler.
Been with malone for over a year now. Definately buy your own truck. I know a few Lease purchase fellows that are doing well. but dont feel like they have any controll over the truck.

I have no real complaints about Malone. (all places have something to complain about) Been making but loads of money. The opportunity is there if you work the system and dont let your ego i.e(I'm an o/o and I don't have to do anything but what I want to) get in your way. Be a team player and find an agent that you work well with and run the wheels off it! If you do favors that maybe don't pay the best but help a broker or agent or Driver mgr out. The favor usually gets returned 10 fold. I average $2.25 per mile on all miles empty and loaded. Thats to the truck all in. Some guys do better some worse. it all depends on how you work the system.

I hope that helps ya make a decision. I'm new to this board, but i'm sure i'll be on here more often.
Good luck to ya on whatever you decide to do.

Being an owner operator is definately the way to go. I would only recommend doing LP if you don't have the financial ability to get your own truck. Heavy Metal 13 definately has the right approach about finding an agent you work well with and run the heck out of their freight. You might have to take a bad haul every now and then, but trust me building the relationship with the agent is worth it in the long run. I run out of the Rockport office and all the people I've dealt with their have been great. Even the recruiter in that office is brutally honest with you and doesn't blow smoke up your you know what just to get you to lease on with them.
