It appears onour 96 T800 that the front and rear differential as well as transmission temperature gauges may be inoperable, or it could be due to the limited road time the truck sees, maybe they dont get up to temperature. The transmission sits running a pto all day so I thought maybe it might be the gauges. Anybody have the values of what i should be checking with the multimeter.
Also the speedometer is jumpy and sticky especially under 50mph, it wont go above 30 until you doing 45 then it jumps. and then hesitate sto go below 40 until your doing 20. All of these speeds are approximate as I dont know if the gauge is ever reading right. What should I be checking here? Thank you.

on the diffs: take the two wires on the diff and short them to each other. The guage should peg out. If it does, the wiring and the guage are ok. Connect the wires to the diffs. If it doesn't work it may have a faulty sensor. Usually these and the tranny don't work because they became disconnected.
Speedometer: I would start with the pickup on the side of the tranny.KW Parts Guy and rollin coal Thank this. -
You ever figure out what was wrong with your speedo? I have the same problem in a 97 T800. The cruise works fine so I dont think its the pickup. Maybe its the speedometer itself??
