I believe that he mentioned Malone and flatbeds. I checked their scores and none are at 100%. The high scores have to do with the drivers. They need to do a better job of recruiting better drivers and get safety involved. I believe the highest score that I saw was 82. I don't believe that a score can go above 100.
Crst just say no csa score 100 plus

I bet if they try hard enough they can achieve greater than 100%, they'll just need to convince the DOT that they suck not only worse than everyone else, but at least 2 percent worse than anyone else who would even care to compete.

That 94 on unsafe driving is sort of being "ignored" since they are a mainly a team company, or so they told me in orientation. I don't know if they are a bad company or not but my experience with them wasn't so great. They opened up the lease purchase for solo drivers and of course Craigslist had a bunch of postings so I took the bait and did the deal. The first month was ok but after that when I went home for hometime and then was ready to go back out again they kept telling me there was no solo freight in my area. First time this happened it took most of the next week to get a relay load outta the house. They suggested I try to book my own freight and if it was approved by customer service then I could haul it. The second time this happened I asked them to send me all the information about booking my own freight. They did. I followed the directions and found a nice load out of the house, sent the info off to dispatch who was supposed to send the info on to customer service. Nothing happened and nobody knew where the info went and of course the load got hauled by someone else. They then offered me a load to PA, no fuel surcharge. I turned it down. I found another load with decent money, did the deal, sent it off and guess what... nothing. I was supposed to pick the load up the next day at 7am but all I got was wait until customer service comes to work at 8am so of course the load I booked would be late. I gave them the truck back. So, if you are thinking about doing business with this outfit and are a solo driver, just make sure they have solo freight out of your area or you'll be stuck at home for days going further into the hole while they are "trying" to find a load for you.

I believe that you are referring to CRST and not CRST Malone? The Malone division operated completely differently than any of the other companies that CRST owns. Malone is their flatbed division and they don't do much team driving. You find nearly all of their owner operators are solo. It sounds like someone dropped the ball on those loads. When I leased to them and wanted to book a brokered load, it usually didn't take that long to get it approved. In my case, it was my dispatcher who got it approved. I think it is all in who you deal with at the company. My experience is also several years old and many of those with whom I did business at the company are no longer with them or have moved to other parts of the country.

You may be right, catalinaflyer. From what I could understand from his post, he must not have read the contract before signing it. -
Steering wheel holder? Fuel surecharge not national average? Well he's right. The national average is based on 6 mpg and malone uses 5 mpg. (so its better than the national average) I haul out of the Chicago area and I get a percentage base fsc and usually its more than I use. Example: $300 fsc for 335 miles @ 6 mpg at $3.70 a gallon is $208. I make $92 profit on the fsc!
I have heard that lease purchase drivers do have a little more of a challenge getting things done, but over all I haven't had any problems and i've been with them for over a year. Making a good income also. -
I have spoken to some who are not doing that well and others who rave about how well they are doing with CRST Malone. My experience was positive and I made money the three years that I leased to them. Success in this business has more to do with you and your attitude than anything external. I don't recall doing a lot of sitting with them, although I have sat a few days in California. If you stay in their primary freight lanes I see no reason why anyone with some initiative can't do well.lisamomof4boyz Thanks this. -
I was with them a few years back and did just fine. They do want to lease purchase you a tractor and rent you a trailer there is no doubt about that. Now I am not Mr Truck or mister Big time operator by any means but some of the lease purchase guys did make me scratch my head. These "operators" were lets say different.
