Never thought of CHR as all that bad in the first place, they are definitely head and shoulders above TQL, but really no worse or better than most of the other big players. At least they pay quickly, quicker than really anyone else outside of a direct customer who would cut you a check asap .
To TQL

Biggest issue I see with CHR is the business model of having a bunch of aggressive kids turbo dialing to get loads covered cheap. You want the rate you need to prove yourself and get the Hoss. And never, Ever, under any circumstances take a cheap load from them. I know within 24-hours when one of my drivers does because they still have my cell in the system I my phone starts ringing.

I'm not that familiar with TQL, but I always cringe at the mention of CHRobinson because over the years when on a CHR load I always tried to find out from shipper or reciever the Robinson pay and it's often triple what my boss at the time was getting ! seems they are kings of finding good paying freight out of tough areas. I guess that's good capitalism, or (some term I can't put here or it will result in several # characters)
The other things I always noticed about CHR loads was customer had no idea it was coming unless I called, and was often frustrated with the service they were recieving. I dunno how they do it ? -
I've had my share of frustrations out of TQL as well. When I do book a load with them, I get the dispatch info IMMEDIATELY. When you get that info from them, you are officially dispatched on the load, and they stop looking for someone to do it cheaper. When I first started pulling their loads, I got the whole "that load got cancelled" BS a few times, but was told that since I wasn't "dispatched", it was tough luck. Once I started INSISTING on being dispatched immediately, I haven't had a problem.

I swear TQL is run by some guy who had a Ponzi scheme and wanted to go legit. Zero ethics at top of that company.

Boys I don't have a problem with Ch robinson. I find they pay as well as anybody if they know you and you have a good standing with them
BigBadBill, rollin coal and blanco Thank this. -
But I have also had problems with TQL
blanco Thanks this. -
I usually only use CH for back hauls. Their freight leaving Chicago is cheap cheap cheap. At least to the areas that I run. And usually the appointment window that they have is ridiculous. I don't need 48 hours to deliver 900 miles away. So it becomes a what is my time worth issue.

The easiest way NOT to have problems tql is don't fool with them.
I don't look at or call about their loads till about the twentieth time on the load board and putting truck in
gear towards the house.rollin coal and DThompsonNGI Thank this. -
With TQL you have to get to know the brokers in the area you run them are the only ones I call and I get good rates from them. If I post my truck and one calls me I tell them I need the company and address of the p/u and del before I can give them a rate. They post 5 loads from and to 5 different locations when its really 1 load. Thats why when I look at the load board I skip over anything they post. As far as CHR I dont have a problem with them. Like Bill said never take a cheap load once you do you are labeled as a cheap hauler and thats how they will treat you.
