Not gonna get much better than that, anything out of NJ, MD, PA going south or east right now is at a $1.10 a mile to a $1.25 a mile if you are lucky,

Under 300 miles is where you are going to get up to a $1.50-$1.80 a mile and even then it's not worth it.....

If you do get something from NJ for more than a $1.50 going south, let me know lol

I was just going to say that rates out of the NE just before the weekend always suck. Its supply and demand - too many trucks trying to get the heck out; the brokers know this, and they know that they don't have to pay higher rates. BFD - it is what it is.

So you have a choice... accept a SHORT low-paying load to pay for your fuel, accept the ultimate in cheap freight (air) and dead-head out, or hang out across the weekend.

I thought the spot market rates were supposed to be the way to go. I guess our cheap contracted freight from the Philly area to Charlotte NC @ 2184.00 this week including the no count FSC is too cheap.

We will spot rate it at 2.00 without FSC,then it won't suck so bad.

I have one O/O that runs those two times a week and a carrier out of Charlotte that runs the other three.

I guess I feel kinda bad turning down 2000 for 786.6 miles, LOL (not really) They wanted 6am sharp pu this morning and 5 pm moday sharp delivery time. It had to be tarped also. I really dont like loads like this as you will soon figure out that you will work for every penny.

Yup, took a $500, 165 mile load from Wharton, NJ to Aberdeen, MD; deadheaded 100 miles to grab it. But, it put me in position to grab a $1800 700 mile weekend load from VA to ME with one stop along the way :)

The self proclaimed master of trucking kevin rutherford would claim that $1.115 is good money.
