I posted this in another section, but think this may be a better area for my questions....

Does anyone have experience with MCT out of Sioux Falls, SD? I recently applied for their training program. I checked and there hasn't been much info on them on this website, which may be a great thing considering how many posts there are about CRE or Hunt. I know they are strictly O/O & L/O based. Any information or input would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to join them in March of 08'. Can't believe I'm finally going to take the plunge. I'm excited and scared as hell!

    Hey Scooter,

I work for MCT and they're not too bad at all. Not one of the higher paying companies, but I manage to make decent miles per week.

My dispatchers may not be the sharpest tools in the shed, but they work "with" most of the time.

If ya' got any specific questions feel free to ask...

    Hey Chryguy,
    If your still around
Give us some more info on MCT. Mostly O/O--or do they hire company drivers?
Types of routes: OTR, Regional, Dedicated ???
When I'm down near Sioux Falls and SW Minnesota---I usually see lots of their units.
    Good benefits?
    INFO...
    Thanks

    Howdy,

I no longer drive for MCT, but according to some of the horror stories I hear about other companies, they were a fine company to work for.
I don't think MCT owns any of their own trucks at this point, but they contract their business to companies Like Wood Bros in Ohio, and BP Transportation in IL.
I was a company driver, so I'm not sure how they treat O/O's, but I did see a few sign-on when I was there. I drove regional, but there were 48 state jobs.
Once in a while I was ASKED if I wanted to stay out on weekends, or go outside of my normal operating area. I was never made to take loads I didn't want.
There was always work available if I wanted to stay out.
Gotta say, I never felt like they were jerkin' my chain...

Benefits-wise they were pretty decent for a small company...

I wasn't gettin' rich there, but I managed to pay the bills... They are definitely worth a try.

    Good luck,
    Chryguy

im looking to go there sometime next month to start trainging to get my cdl with them. spoke with a recruiter and they said they should have no problem getting me into the program and driving (i have a unsafe driving ticket on my record 2 years ago most companies wont take me)

i have a question tho i know there a O/O company they hire them and the O/O bring there fleets on with mct. now do i choose who i work for with them out of the fleets that are hiring or do i just get thrown with whoever they want to put me with?

also how is there training program? and does anyone have any experience with trainers or the program in general??

I think they'll probably put you with whoever is closest to you...

If I remember right, Wood Trucking had around 70 trucks, BP had around 50...I wasn't familiar with the others, but I'd guess they are all around that size.

I know my trainer is no longer there, and I can't tell you about anybody else, but Ed was a prince. Good guy, put up with me, and taught me some of the most basic rules to live by on the road.
Hopefully you get somebody as good.

I didn't get my CDL through them, I just went out for a few weeks and learned how to drive for them...so I really can't tell ya what to expect. I think like any other company, you have to decide if you and your trainer can work together. If not, ask for a different trainer. Any decent company should be able to hook ya up with somebody you can work with.

As for my time with 'em, I had the personal cell phone number of the owner of my truck...and he even answered the phone when I called with a problem. :yes2557:

    Good luck...

I had been off work several months from a non work related injury. The other day I talked to a nearby fleet owner that has his trucks leased to MCI . I talked with a recruiter in SD and did the online app.If they are ok with my work history etc. I will probably start orientation next week.I have been in trucking a lot of years and so far everyone I spoke withb seemed very professional and helpful.I been involved with trucking I can tell pretty much if a recruiter is bs,ing me,and I feel I been getting straight talk from them. From what I learned most fleet owners pay differently and offer different benefits,so I pays to look around for your best deal.
