Been there, done that. They load the taters with a front end loader.

Dixie's, Ironto VA. Much more sanity here than at that truckstop disaster area known as the TA n' PEElot at Troutville.

JCW dropped his load in Sikeston and was ready for a new load by 7am. At 7:45 PM, he gets his new load assignment. PU @Tyson in Union City, TN. Appt? 0800 to 2100. Did I mention he's 110 miles away? And the load didn't come until 1945? AND it drops in Fairfield, OH at 0645? He poked at dispatch more than once...but they didn't have a load for him. HUH?

First, they're trying to cover a busted load appointment - something happened with another driver that was on it. JCW should accept the load, and send a message to dispatch with an ETA... make sure there is some padding so he doesn't get a service failure. Second, freight is always slow after Memorial Day - it should pick up a bit in the next couple of weeks, and watch it slow down again after the 4th. It will pick up again in August, but the high-tide for the year has past. The freight cycle is what it is.

You guys have been packing something away to help cover the rest of the year, yes?

He took the load, and headed out. Gave them a padded ETA. No problem. They told him they couldn't get him a load earlier because they had to find him a load headed west (hometime coming up). So, they send him east. That's ok, I'll just laugh all the way to the bank, but my cows are mighty tired of being in timeout.
