I've been with a company (small) for a year now. I have aclean record and have sent out feelers, looking for a good company to drive for(need benefits). Man, I find it hard to weed through the BS. I try todisseminate information on companies from their web sites then check theforums. I thought I had it whittled down to 3 or so, but now I don't know. Ive hadoffers of 43 cpm, check the forum and find drivers crying no miles, home time, being cheated and stay away. I guess I just want to get a regional with longruns in decent equipment. I really need a good benefit package, but cant seemto get the real scoop until I commit. I have both van and flatbed experience soI guess I have to just leap and hope Im happy with the choice. Here are theones Im considering because I live in southern VA: New Century, Gypsum, Cowan,Transport America and Melton. Any Thoughts?
Look'n to switch it up.

Look into an LTL company! Im home every night and off on weekends! .51cpm. I run from Milwaukee down to our Chicago,IL terminal then to Madison,WI then back to Milwaukee,WI. I have the little run 337 miles a night plus I yard jockey for 2hours and take home $850 to 900 a week! Not sure how the benefits are because Im under my wifes at her job.
Don.B Thanks this. -
One of my choices is a LTL. Also they are paying on the high end of the scale.

Don, Dude, you need to realize that there are no guarantees in life. You make a decision, go for it, and it may or may not work out. This pertains to selecting a wife, buying a home and car or job changing, right ? I'd be glad to help you, but my crystal ball is out of service today. Luck to ya'....

I decided to go with WTI Express. Other than the controversy of who owns whom, I could find one bad thing said on the forum. I didn't think that was possible. The only thing that sucks is I can't find anyone to drive down with me in my car to drop me off in Alabama. There is adrop yard about 45 min from my house, so I should get home often enough. -
rent a car to drive down with?
-
Crap I didn't even think of that, too simple. But there are no major airports around for a one way rental

One way car rentals, especially rented on short notice are usually a lot more expensive that a bus ticket. I had to go from Sioux Falls, SD to Grand Forks, ND. Found it to be much cheaper and easier to hop the bus. Good Luck with the new job.

Hate to do it, but the Bus it is. WTI looks like a good choice, but we'll see. I was promised a load out and home by the weekend. Then a load for delivery for the Monday after.
