I just finished orientation last week and am excited and ready to get out with my trainer. I was supposed to be picked up today 6/11/2012. However my trainer is out of hours and is in Richfield until Tuesday. I understand that part if it but it don't sound like they are going to get him routed to get me picked up any time soon. At least that's what I understand after talking to him. I know my trainer is taking home time from the 22-26 and was talking about picking me up then but I really don't want to wait that long to leave. My question is should I call someone at Millis and arrange for a different trainer or see if they will be getting my trainer routed this way sooner to get me picked up or just suck it up and wait. Like I said I don't really want to wait that long but I don't want to step on any toes either. If I were to call who would I talk to? I know that Mike Millis is in charge of training but not sure if I should talk to him or ask for someone else. If any veteran driver out there who is also a trainer could please pass some advice on to me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and stay safe.

suck it up and wait. things happen. dispatch will get him to you soon dont worry. you wouldnt get another trainer that quick to come pick you up anyways. then for his home time just suck it up again. i have been home 3 timea already and its only my fourth week out.

OK, I don't know even the first thing about Millis. But this just doesn't sound right to me. Why would they assign you to a driver/trainer that they know is going to be taking time off? You are there to learn and make money, not sit on your arse. I think you should contact your training department and in a diplomatic way, make you desires known.

Of course you don't want to step on any toes. But you also want to be out there and doing what you have trained to do. There are diplomatic ways of approaching problems, and your post shows that you are intelligent enough to go that route, rather than getting in their face.

Him going on home time won't bother me at all. He lives very close to me so it works out for me also. I'm just not really hip on waiting until the 26th to go out. I just figured I could get a week and a half of training under my belt befor the 22nd. Anyway, thanks for the advice hopefully after his reset they get him down this way. Hell I'd even catch a ride with another driver to meet up with him in Richfield.

Being a trainer - it's hard sometimes to get to students that are not located close to our home terminals. It's taken me 2 weeks to get to a student before but we always get there. It's based on freight in and around the area you are located and where the trainer is coming from.

Work with him/her and if that trainer cant get to you, they will let corporate know and if needed they will try to find a trainer closer. We are short on trainers so bear with it and it will all work out.

As far being home 3 times already - that's crazy. Did you get a regional trainer?

Thanks Baritone. I live just across the river from St Louis in Illinois. Which is where my trainer is from also. So like I said him going on home time doesn't bother me one bit cause I'll be home also. I'm just very anxious to get out there for training. I understand with freight and what not also. If I have to wait till the 26th then that is what I will do. Just wasn't sure if there were some other avenues to follow to get out sooner.

Your trainer wouldn't be Norm by any chance would it? Also if you have the means and he is still doing a reset you could Drive up to meet him, I don't suggest it but you could. The wait sucks cause you aren't making money but it happens think it took a week for my trainer to get to me and that was at Trenton.

No his name isn't Norm. I don't want to put his name in here without permission. I agree the wait is horrible. I'm ready to get out there and learn and make some money. I was thinking about seeing if a millis driver was in St Louis and see about catching a ride to meet up with him.
