No, reefers do not go INTO NYC. (I'm sure someone can correct me. But isn't 48' the legal limit in NYC? Our reefers are 53') As for trainers, they will TRY to match you up, but don't count on it. JCW's trainers were from GA and ME. Not a big deal really. And as a trainee, you will get into FL a bit, as there is a lot of coast to coast for teams.

I put an application in Yesterday, was wondering should I give them a few days to call me or should I call them? I was really liking what Millis and their drivers have had to say and then for some reason realized I was ignoring this company and like the time they want you to get in training. Money at first isn't great but for my first few months driving I'd rather know someone is close by if I have a question.

I already have my CDL's but got them through a company I worked with driving straight trucks and occasionally equipment trailers like for a backhoe or something. If I go through the school, will I be paid from day 1 I get in the trainers truck(i've seen where until the driver gets the CDL they are not paid by the company)?

Depends on what seat your coming into, if you already have your CDL with basically no experience you will get $500 a week for 4 weeks, then $600 a week until training is complete. You start getting paid the day you actually get your comdata card and are available for dispatch.

I put in my app last week, but I had been working with a recruiter for a few months until I was ready to go. If I were you, I'd call.
Right now, I know they are very busy and it is taking the Recruiting Dept. -- not your "recruiter" -- up to 14 business days to get get your app verified and processed.

Get the ball rolling and by calling, I think it shows them you are really serious about Prime. Me, I've been an email pest. I rarely talk to my recruiter via phone.
At least I know what's going on with my application. I should know "yea" or "ney" next week. Expecting YEA!

IMO while you have kids at home that is where you should be not out on the road for weeks on end.... Most truckers that want to go home all the time end up very unhappy because all the can think about is getting home..which is very understandable but not very conducive to the trucking life imo.. Good Luck..

That's a good point -- BUT.... If you want to create a long term career goal, the whole family needs to accept being gone weeks at a time UNTIL that coveted first year is done.
Plenty of local jobs in most areas, unless the famly is located in BFE!

Most compliants I see here from truckers is "home time" ... missing the wife, missing the kids... even after that 1st yr there is no promise of a local job...Having kids at home growing up while your not there has got to be the worst...

I know I couldn't do it..Thats why we are waiting till the kids are grown about 3 more yrs.. :) ...and we plan on running as a Husband and Wife team..No home time really needed..

and I think it is the reason for the very high failure rate for many students IMO. Trucking may sound really good till you actually have to live it,then it seems reality sets in..

Just something for us newbies to keep in mind..
