Bah Humbug! Some folks get along OK.
I am making about $27 per driving hour. (I just wish I had more driving hours...)

One man's disappointment may be another's dream job. Not everyone likes the same things. I'm going into it with my eyes wide open and a positive attitude. The last five years with the dept of corrections my pay hasn't increased a dime and my insurance premiums and other deductions increase every year so every year my pay decreases. I'm ready for a change. I know I'll put in long hours and won't get rich but I may be able to make more than 28k a year minus a little more every year.

My job history isn't perfect but I have worked a job the whole time. I don't have any felonies and my driving record is the same. I am excited and I don't believe I will be disappointed. What is there to be disappointed about? I have read a ton of threads on this site: The good, the bad and the ugly. Not one of them made me say " I don't want to do this.". I spoke with the guy that runs the school today, which was a relief, and the next class starts the 25th of this month. I am going to go up there Monday for the initial interview, fill out paperwork and go over everything I will need for the class. Do other schools make you interview before you start? I have not read it on any of the threads here but, if the instructor doesn't think that it is right for you, you don't get in.

At c1 once they check your record you're in. You can almost hear the recruiter counting his money as he signs you up.

It is time for the update for the week. I spoke with the school last Friday and got things moving. Monday I went up there to do the interview, figure out everything I need and find out where to pay. Unfortunately, the director had to leave because of a meeting called at the university. Thankfully, one the instructors was there to help me with some of my questions, he also gave me a copy of the Arkansas pre-trip inspection and an application for the course. I left feeling good that I had finally made face to face contact with someone and got some of the info I was hoping for. I returned Tuesday afternoon for the interview with the director. This time he was there, so we sat down and discussed my application, what it takes to be a truck driver and some of the stresses that come with territory. I assured him that all was good and that I was ready. He told me about the companies that hire his students and showed me all of their applications and said that we will fill some out of my choice so that I can have pre-hires lined up when I complete the course. I left excited that all I had to do was pay for the course and I would be officially enrolled. I returned Wednesday afternoon with the check for 2,700 dollars and he handed me a piece of paper to take to a clinic for a DOT physical and drug test, he told me I had 48 hours to get it done. The clinic stopped taking people at 4 p.m. so it was already too late for me to go. I was already nervous about my blood pressure, which had been running a little high, and I knew the anticipation wouldn't be good for it. Thank goodness for my wonderful wife who calmed me and made sure that I was stress free until the next afternoon when I was able to get to the clinic. I passed the the vision and hearing without any problems. Then I saw the blood pressure cuff in the room and I could feel my pulse start to race and, unfortunately, so did the nurse. She stopped and said I need you take a couple of deep breathes for me your pulse is too high. I told her I was nervous about my blood pressure being too high. She let me relax and then came back and took my bp and it was 120/80. I haven't had a physical since football in school and I forgot about the "turn your head and cough" situation. I made it through it and everything else went smoothly. I am now a proud owner of med card. I will start class on the 25th of this month. It feels really good to be this close.

A lot of people told me that too. They were wrong.
Just because you or someone else is unhappy with the 'trucking world' doesn't mean that everyone will be. It's disappointing to me when people automatically assume that everyone else in the world shares their likes, dislikes and outlook on life. -
I will wish you well with your enterprise.
Hope it lives up to your expectations. -
Today I went and got the cdl packet that I will need for class. I will officially start class in one week, I can't wait. I hope everyone is well. Thank you to all of those who are keeping up with this thread. I will post more often once class begins.
