I can even go 70 down hill without a qualcomm yelling at me...LOL....yeah 68 is nice but I want my FULL bonus for keeping idle below 30 percent and overspeed below 5 percent...which we get every 2 weeks...if we meet those goals we get a 4 cent a mile bonus...it goes down the further over those numbers you go though...

My fleet manager doesn't hold my hand and I follow the route for the most part. Making your own route trip planning is for adults is a stupid comment. But yet the equipment looks good nice kw's congrats to u both. The shop is empty because their fleet looks for the most part new. Speed doesn't bother me but can be frustrating at time. The equipment and pay plus the negligence of office personnel will be the reason I leave before or at my 1 year. Looking at a reefer company as well.

65 MPH, big fun... My truck has no governer at all, and the big cat does purr right about 70!!! Did I mention how nice it is to be Qualcomm free, and have a loose leaf log book again. Sorry I didn't post this week, I was busy. I did run just under 2k miles and was done at 10:00 this morning. Don't have to load til 1900 on Sunday and head to Ohio. I agree it is nice being able to decide what route to take. I have been dealing with construction on some of our local roads close to home, so I have been able to run around alot of it and save alot of time sitting and waiting.
I did two loads of beer as return loads this week. They were both out of Pottsville Pennsylvania, and let me tell you this, don't blink or you will miss the load going in your trailer. Both trips in were less than 30 mins. The best part is the delivery on this end is 5 miles from my house. Just back into the dock, and head to the house, they call me when they get done.
Now granted I am driving a 10 year old truck, but everything has been overhauled, and the truck runs and drives just like new. It is really nice having a pre EGR motor, and not having to hunt for DEF anymore. I don't have a DPF to get plugged, and need regened, it has been great. Fill it with fuel, check the oil, antifreeze and power steering fluid, and go... The only thing I can say that I miss about the Cascadia is the way it turns. The Classic XL that I am in now takes a bit more room to get around, but I am remembering how to deal with it.
Good luck to you guys starting new jobs. I hope it goes well for you. You chicken haulers can have the grocery warehouse thing... I did haul a load of bottled water to Buffalo this week and had to pay $200 for a straight pull off. What a rip off... Thankfully it only took them about 45 mins. but the $200 was a bit steep. That will probably be the last load we take there. Happy trails all, I am calling it a day, going to get up early tomorrow to work on my Nissan Pathfinder Project, yes I have time to turn wrenches again too, and the money to buy the stuff I want. -
I really wanted to be a part of this thread, so I put in my two-weeks notice yesterday afternoon. Now, I too, will have post-Roehl adventures!

Just a quick comment about Van Wyk newer equipment. They service every truck every 12,500 miles whether it needs it or not.
-
Hope you guys keep posting as I think it will be interesting to see avg miles per week and avg home time you will be getting at van wyk
Speedy trks are nice, but could also invite unwanted problems if not respected -
Miles aren't as important when you're paid a percentage off the top.

Are you planning on staying out more? I know mic put down home time I can't remember if you did or not. -
I'm flexible on home time but they would like you to do a reset at home every 5-6 days so they can run hard when needed without worrying about hours. I've delivered two loads so far in three days and grossed roughly $400.
tna and DrtyDiesel Thank this.
