I'm just a company ######, but my company owns mostly 379exhd and they bought a batch of new 386's with smaller paccar motors than the C15's in the 379's and those guy's arent doing any better in fuel with the 386's than we are with the 379's...

I was just using those two models as examples, just as easily could have said T700, T2000, T660, Pete 387, Pete 587, Columbia, Century, Volvo 670, Volvo 780, or Mack Pinnacle

Well yeah. In your particular application having an Aero truck is like putting a band-aid on an amputation. Not gonna help.

I have an old cabover 94 frieghtliner and a transcraft flatbed average 6 mpg over a years time. Yesterday I hooked to a guys 53 foot reefer and loaded a load of apples for him my fuel milage dropped to 4.55 what a shock and I did this for free.It would cost me over 16000 dollars a year to run the same miles with that reefer trailer,so I guess I have to stay with a flat or maybe try a hopper trailer which I have always wanted to try anyway.I might be able to gain some milage with a newer tractor but I think the payment and insurance would cancel out any gain for me.After not having any payments for over 10 years makes me want to keep things the way they are.

When I started driving you had two choices, hood or cabover, and it was hood hands down for me. I think anything that isn't a cabover is still considered a "Hood" but if you're comparing the classic looks of the w900's and 379/389's to the space shuttle look, I'll have to say the classics are by far a better looking rig.
I've owned only two trucks, a 1984 Pete 359 and a 1993 KW W900 L. Everything about the 359, except fuel econemy, was heads and tails above the W900 in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of plastic and fiberglass in big trucks or 4wheelers for that matter. I guess I'm just old school.

I have a mid roof Columbia and a w900, everything being equal the freightliner will get 1 mpg better mileage. However the kw has a lot larger engine.

I have not driven a Pinnacle OTR but I did test drive one at the beginning of the year. It had the MP8 505hp with the M-Drive Automatic and was very nice.
