I stopped in at JR truckstop to get the service shop to blow out my rad today and was told by the mechanic that he didn't have time as he had to got to a ball game. This is unacceptable for a service provider at a truckstop to turn away a trucker that needs help. I went to the TA further north and was well looked after .

Other than fuel and a place to crash out, it's just a small Mom/Pop operation that's overshadowed by the Loves on the other side of the 15.
TA's always the better bet along this route.

That's understandable but when they provide service to trucks and a guy pulls in and says his trucks overheating I need to get it sorted out and it was only to blow the rad out they could make the extra effort. After all trucks are there business , it's not a small shop in town, it's a truck stop service shop. I guess I just expected better service in a time of need and was PO'd that he wasn't interested in providing the service they are the to provide.

Maybe he had not had much time off and had put in a long day.

Maybe you should have done the work at home before you left.

    Maybe...........

You say service provider like they have some sort of responsibility to look after you. It's just a business that can open and close at will.

this is so true. NO garage is under ANY OBLIGATION to work on ANYONE's truck.

it is after all "free will, free country, etc, etc".

next time, do as someone else mentioned, DO IT BEFORE YOU LEAVE..!!!

i worked at a garage for many years myself, had some acehole needed his fan belt replaced, "right now". i had MY CUSTOMERS vehicles in MY SHOP that were waiting for THEIR vehicles to get done.

i told him what my "right now" was.

    never saw him again.

according to the o/p's bio, he is a "brand new" o/o..

well cupcake, suck it up and learn to adjust your attitude.

If I owned a shop, and I had my kids game to get to, I'd say no too. See, you don't run your own business just to answer to some driver. It's YOUR business to do whatever you please.

Well that's all good and well, I know where everyone stands on this. Better keep it in mind the next time one of you needs something urgently and gets left hanging just what y'all put up on here. No point arguing over nothing, next time I think I will put up something related to trucking that might keep someone from getting held up longer than needed I will keep it to myself and let others find out the hard way too. As for" doing it at home" and " sucking it up" I spent over an hour trying to use my tire air line with the chuck removed to blow the rad out on the side of the road. It takes some time when ya gotta get in start the truck build pressure shut the truck off blow a bit out and keep repeating the process over and over. So don't tell me to suck it up cos I ain't no wimp that won't try to fix It first myself.
