White Trucks

    I hae been asked to look at tuning a 'White" truck as in brand not colour. Any one heard of the brand or even better own one? I could only find the "White Motor Company" but it appears to have been bought and effectively dissolved by Volvo. Any info appreciated - if Volvo technology it will be walk in park

    I've know back in the day's friend's that own them. They were solid truck's. No rivets that I could see. But they had there share of stress crack's. They didn't look to bad with a long wheelbase.

    Thanks guys I think these guys might be dreaming. From what i can see these trucks were before ECU's so I will politely decline the biz - cheers

    White Trucks were bought out with Cummins, Detroit or Cat motors, I owned one in 1986, it was a White Road Boss with a Cummins VT 903.

    Volvo bought them in 1995. The 1996 models have Volvo namepates but are the same truck as the 1995 models. They are often referred to as Frankentrucks, as they are assembled from everyone else's parts. The engines are normally Cummins or Detroits.

    They are popular as container and city trucks in the US midwest, and Tidewater still runs them as tanker yankers.

    My 1996 has a Cummins N15 SelectPlus, and the Detroit option for the same year is a 60 Series.
