ONLY if the antenna is not working right and THEN it becomes a loss ....
To cover a non working antenna by playing with coax is stupid .....

FIX the load at the antenna not cover it ......

    Channel Jumper Thanks this.

Move your antenna up or get a longer one.All the metal is messing with your SWRs I had the same problem on a ford with a flat bed.

Using a "Q" section a little more involved. Take at look at: http://electronicdesign.com/article/communications/Back-To-Basics-Impedance-Matching-101-63946 starting at: Transmission-Line Matching.

    I respectfully disagree.

While phasing 2 or more antennas can be a use for "Q" section there many times a "Q" section is used to transform one impedance to some other impedance. A good example is the feed of a dipole antenna. The dipole having a impedance of 72 ohms and you want to match that to a 50 ohm transmission line. A "Q" section can be used.
