Yup, I bought a 2 1/4" hole saw, two foundation vents and a bag of self tapping sheet metal screws at Lowe's. 6 holes in the header board, 6 holes in the right rear door, cover them with the foundation vents, and I now have a Vented Van trailer to haul melons! Grand total of around $20.

Curious to why you didn't go buy the proper vents at a parts store. They run about 15 a piece and can be closed off.
-
You talking about the reefer door? $60 a piece was the cheapest I found about a month ago. We did the same thing as windsmith.
-
No, not the actual door. The 12 x 12 aluminum vent with lever to close them from your truck part supplier
SHC Thanks this. -
You're suggesting an item intended for stationary use on the side of your house might not survive long mounted on a trailer door? You're such the pessimist...
Jumbo, fortycalglock and rsconsulting Thank this. -
Windsmith
Did you get that high dollar load of melons on yet ? -
I have actually never seen what you are talking about. Of all the used trailers I have looked at that are vented, they have the reefer door or what windsmith and I did.
I this the guy that was telling me he wasn't buying the high dollar item designed for his reefer and "fixed" something up for a couple bucks a few months ago?RedForeman Thanks this. -
I think fortycal is talking about this type of vent. This is what I got and it has a lever to close them.
rollin coal, fortycalglock and SHC Thank this. -
It was a simple logistics / time issue. Lowe's was there, open, and had room in the parking lot for me to drop the trailer and nose up to it so I could reach the top of the headerboard. And the vent covers were $1.49 each
RedForeman Thanks this. -
That is what he is talking about. They are about $20 at the Utility dealer by me.
