I notice that my 4" straps seem to wear out kind of fast (little holes and tears?) I use a lot of edge protection and try to take care of them but its more noticeable in the Arca yellow straps than the Kenedyne orange ones. Is this a matter of brand or normal or do I need to use more protection. I was told to stop cranking so tight but I highly doubt thats it.

I'm curious if these straps you speak of were began "as new" or you inherited them. I can't say I ever noticed any of the kenedyne we used (back years ago when I flatbedded) wearing "prematurely". May have a lot to do with how much salt and wet-road grime they were subjected to, in addition to the obvious issues where strap protection may be in order. I don't think you can "crank 'em too tight". If you can, then you should be doing something else, or you're using cheap straps.

The Ancra yellow straps may be "normal duty" straps where as the Kinedyne orange may be the tougher Rhino Web version.

My Ancra straps tend to wear a little quicker as well too. It may be that we are tightening them too much, but I'd rather spend $8 on a new strap that the cost to replace or cleanup something that fell off my truck.

I do have the Keneydne Extreme straps as well and they are some heavy duty suckers, but a real PITA to wrap in the winch since they are so stiff, but I'm starting to use them more for crates and off stuff that I can't get an edge guard on or when I don't want a strap to flap in the wind as they don't seem to have that problem like the flimsy yellow ones.

Yeah where do you get straps for $8.00?

As an aside, I wonder if Country of manufacture has anything to do with it. I believe Ancra is made in China, and Kinedyne in USA. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Its vice versa. I know the blue ANCRA extreem straps are US made. It has been cheaper to use american made material and make them in america then pay to ship them from China.

    CAXPT Thanks this.
