I started Swift Academy in San Antonio yesterday. So far, all has gone off without a hitch. Yesterday was physical exam, drug test, and signing lots and lots and lots of paperwork. More paperwork today, then actual classroom stuff pertaining to trucking such as logbook and such. Instructors seem quite knowledgeable and professional. Haven't decided if I'm surprised by that or not, lol. Anyway, it looks like the next 3 weeks or so will be quite busy, interesting, and HOT. We took our first quiz this afternoon. Scored 94. We started with 14 students and so far have lost three and one is thinking about leaving. I think he misses "home".Will post more as I have time.

I went there in November last year as did Bluebonn and Inkeeper previously. You are in for an excellent and fun experience with an awesome group of people. If you finish and feel anything was lacking I can tell you now its your fault which may seem harsh but its true. They will give you all the help you need and all you have to do is ask. Remember your job interview with Swift has started and will conclude when you upgrade to solo and have your truck assigned. Tell Virginia, Mr. (Chuck) Calloway and Stan Thompson, Frank "not Francis" said howdy. You will also be one of the last classes to experience such an excellent group of instructors as the school will be moving to Corsicana and most of the people there will be going back on the road. If I get through there in the next 3 weeks I'll stop in and say hello.

A21CAV - We are the last class before the move to Corsicana. I will tell them you said howdy. Stop by if you get a chance. Would enjoy meeting you. Thanks for the advice.

Day 4 - Another day down and back at my room. Over the last couple of days I've watched lots of videos, taken lots of tests, and done LOTS of studying. I have found the academic side of this adventure at school to be quite easy. I wonder...is that because it really is easy material, or because I truly do study hard? Or, is it the quality of instruction, which I do find to be first rate? More studying to do tonight. More tests tomorrow, and then off to Tx DPS on Monday to take our CDL permit test and others. No problem. We started with 14 people in our class and we are now down to 9. The class ahead of mine is down to 5 and I think they started with 10 or so. I've heard many horror stories about Swift mentors since I've been here, but I'll remain hopeful that I draw a good one, and will keep a positive attitude. By the way, our class is set to graduate on July 12th, so if there are any mentors out there who will be available around the middle of July, and want to train a 50 year old male that truly wishes to listen and learn, I'd love to hear from you. That's it for now. Have a great night everyone.

I passed all my tests today and got my permit. I also took and passed the endorsement tests for doubles/triples and tankers. I know this is no big deal to a lot of folks, but I am still pleased about it. I plan to get my hazmat endorsement shortly after I graduate. We only have two people who have to re-test. Good luck to them tomorrow.

Congratulations! You should be pleased. It is fairly easy material but additionally Calloway is a great teacher and the repetitive nature of the instruction helps. Now the fun begins with Stan Thompson on the backing/parking range. He will seem ruff, tuff n gruff but the guy is really a sweetheart and a great gentleman. Have fun and try not to kill too many of his 'children', his traffic cones.

Thanks Frank. I will do my best and try to be easy on the cones, lol.
