There is no real good or bad companies. It all depends on the individual and what they want. Personally I recommend to stay away from the mega-carriers. Your chances or success are better with the smaller companies. A company that has to spend millions of dollars in advertising to get you to work for them, in mind, just isn't worth it. Do your research, find the obscure, less known companies out there. You don't have to follow the herd! Keep in mind when going through school that the school and recruiters get paid to send you to those companies. So yes they are going to promote and talk them up and not mention to you any other options that are out there.
Here is a good site that will help you find some good smaller companies. There are many other ways to find the good mom and pop companies so don't just use this one site. Also Craigslist is a good tool for finding them.

I've talked to drivers from Roehl and Schneider who weren't happy at all.
The bottom line is there is good and bad with every company. -
Second, don't assume it makes a "### out of U and ME"
Third, I've worked for companies with truck counts of 30, 700, 250, and 4000+
Fourth, at none of them, two of which had elogs(the 250 and 4000+ truck company), have I ever had a problem with getting a shower(which I did every day without fail whether I had to pay for it or not) or shutting down at a t/s if I wanted too. It's all about trip planning.
Fifth, yes I drive my car 60 as well.
Sixth, I was pushed hard to "fix" my logs at the 30 and 700 truck companies. When I first started with the 4000+ truck company it wasn't pushed but it wasn't exactly discouraged either.
Last, have you ever driven a 60mph truck or used an elog? Because I've driven trucks governed at 78, 62, 68, and 72. I've ran loose leaf logs, stapled log books and e logs. Guess what, none of those variables really changed how I did things and as long as I got loads as soon as I was empty 3000+ miles a week was never a problem.Dennis_Miller Thanks this. -
Of course this is my opinion based on the information I have seen, and it is simply that, my opinion, nothing less nothing more. -
I agree with Rizen about Werner. I'm in their training program now for almost a month and looking to get a different company to take me on and give me a chance. Werners training program is a joke, I'm waiting to get my fourth trainer and Ive done nothing wrong. The first one got fired then the second one abandoned me when I got bronchitis on his truck and he wouldn't take me to the hospital and the safety team wouldn't do anything about it. I had to call a ambulance to get to the hospital. Third trainer I had for two days and he expected too run me ragged all night and get pissed off at me when I pulled over to take a break in the middle of the night, like say, 3 o'clock ink the morning. So he called to get me off his truck and get someone who could just start driving all night long without adjusting to it. Now I'm on some safety hold cause that trainer wanted to cover his arss and say I've been drinking energy drinks and having a sugar crash. So if your thinking of going to Werner, don't unless yo really don't want to be a trucker.

lol. My husband is sitting in Brownsville, TX. right now waiting on someone to tell him what he's supposed to do since the trailer he was supposed to pick up is no where to be found. No one has any clue as to the trailer #. He was sent there to drop off the trailer he has right now & pick up the invisible one. lol. Only he was also told that the trailer he had, had to be cleaned out first at our expense of $75 bucks. He got there about 45 minutes ago and looked around at all the other trailers that are full of trash & all kinds of other crap.
Meanwhile, dispatchers have all gone home and his boss is on vacation...again. So guess who gets to sleep by the boarder till God-knows when? You know the night dispatchers aren't going to have a clue. The message he got back about it from her was "If its not there (the trailer hes supposed to pick up) maybe its not done being loaded". lol The trailer.....thats not there....and that no one has a clue to where it would be, number of trailer or to why the heck my husband is even there
Nothing like working for free
