I am going to be moving to an LTL company that will allow a driver to put a CB in the truck. Since I have not driven for a company that didn't already have a CB installed I am looking for a recommendation for a decent unit that won't break the bank.

I rarely have the CB on, but want to have one for those situations where it could be helpful. Maybe even one of the handheld units would do the trick?

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

I love my Cobra 29 LTD Classic, and if you can wait you can find them for about 70 bucks shipped to the house on Amazon!

Simplest, best bang for your buck, Cobra 25 or Uniden PC76. Will talk just as good as the Cobra 29 or Uniden PC78, just not as much features that you don't really need....like built in SWR meter (that I wouldn't trust) and Delta Tune (which you'll never use).

That said, any of these 4 radios will do the trick!

I'm with mike, get yourself a cobra 25, some good coax, and a nice fiberglass antenna, if you can afford it I would surely get a different mic for that radio though.

I have a Cobra 29 LTD NW with a decent Browning antenna right now. A good coax is also key to keeping your SWRs on the radio down, it will need to be 18' in length as well. The extra coax you will need to loop somewhere in the truck in wide loops. On the Pete I'm driving I looped it in 1.5 big loops above the windshield.
