My husband drove a volvo in 2007, loved it and the size. We didn't have problem running the refrig at least, but unplugged it when using the microwave. But we did have to turn truck on in the wee hours when using our electric blankets in cold weath .

"The Next Exit" - you can find it at many truckstops besides the Iowa80.

I think I may have seen the book at a TA but that was back in about 2008. I thought it was a great sounding idea really. Also a good website to find truckstops if you have a laptop, Walmarts (need to google them and make sure to see if it looks like you park in them) rest areas, scales, etc is www findfuelstops . com, I found it by accident and really love it, esp for areas where ts are pretty far and few between. The Wilco and some others in the eastern states do not have parking so it is better to check them out or call first to make sure it is still open or otherwise.

Amen on google being a friend, it really helps having some of the websites available and the find fuelstop one is really great, I just found the ts on his customer directions in MA, a Pride Ambest.

The book looks good too for the price, mostly husband likes rest areas if he can find one inorder to stay out of the ts unless he has no other place to go. They love the Walmart's where they can get into so they can shop and get prescriptions filled but so many are prettyfied where they make it where trucks can't park.

I may have to order the book in the future just for me to use to locate things for him.

They do a survey every year and try to include all businesses that are of value to travelers within 3 miles of every interstate exit in the country. Just keep your eyes open... I've seen them at TAs, Petros, Pilots, Loves... heck our company store in the terminals carries them too. More over, some states that still mark exits numerically - not by the mile marker, has a conversion to the miles in the book. Walmart supercenters are included, along with truckstops marked in red. It's well worth the expense, even if you stay in rest areas - it has them too!
