800kilograms is pretty close to 2000lbs.
Nope.
We have the repairbills to prove it.
Pls don't make it sound like it can be fixed cheaply.
My friends V8,it would cost around 10000€(12500$) to bring it back to a reasonal level.
He priced it.
Oh and before i forget,he didn't as a Scania dealer as then it would have cost him double.
ps 2 headgaskets blown at 1 200 000km(800 000miles) on the V8.
pps Scania dealers are the most expensive off ALL dealers
They do not give discounts to O/O.
They do give big discounts to fleets.

i wouldnt keep scania/volvo so long because of expensive parts here if something go wrong this can cost a lot , there is no parts for scania/volvo everywhere like for man/mercedes you must buy original and new
on our roads most trucks become unusable at 800 000km 500-600 is already range you should get rid of them ...man engines last about 500 000-600 000km mercedes up to 800, volvo scania can do a lot 1200 000 but only few wants to try luck
interesting here renault is not considered truck , it cost too much in parts you cant get more than 5000 for 5-6year old truck , they dont last very long
here man have way best services mercedes prove its quality here , even 35year old NG 2626 still cost 10-13k
you cant find mp2 actros even with milion km on our roads below 25000 even 1841 L cab without equipment they hold their price very good average 2002/3 cost 30000 , they are good quality-price ratio can be serviced everywhere , parts everywhere, they dont have as much problems as man have or iveco , also when they get old arabs want them
it is not that much mercedes is much worse average v8 mercedes on our specs goes 500kg more than scania , scania v8 is about same weight as d13 volvo , interesting to me is that only man is getting lighter and lighter new efficiency line tgx tractor is 7150kg or something similar
recently saw r560 topline with side skirts alloy rims adr retarder f700 frame 4bags 400L fuel spare wheel automated lubrication opticruise retarder 180ah bateries at 7300 without hydraulics ( would be added latter) usully they are not that light usually 7300 is about what inline weights ,and this operator say it will need next truck with lower cab due problems with loading spot.same owner have 2 scanias r580 at less than 7tons cr19 cab side skirts 385/65 tires 315/80 on back full air suspension
that is not well but better than ever for daf they are on 6th position way behind others....now one big operator from north which drive mattresses to france completly switch from volvo to daf
only operators from north of country buy it ( from two towns) because they only drive on west on good conditionsScania man Thanks this. -
There's an old joke about Renault, never buy a french car unless you live in France !
98989 and Scania man Thank this. -
Ohh lets see ...DAF roscrea (my local) 83 euros an hour, Scania Tipperary ( my local ) 48 euros an hour plus they actually fix the truck and honour the warranty. Furthermore they will put parts for older trucks on to the warranty of newer trucks,
Weight difference of these engines is 550 kgs with the graphite block!
Can't say what's wrong with your mates truck but generally it's just reset the tappets, easy, usually did them myself!
Never seen headgaskets to go in one to be honest ,you're friend didn't believe in maintenance did he?
You're just nit picking anyway, there's no excuse for an engine to be worn out at 230,000kms (140,000 miles) is there? Considering it was under contract maintenance with the main dealer and then not honour the warranty! Those 2 piles cost me over 16,000 in repairs in their first year of service when they were under warranty, try justify that mate! -
did you remember those scanias i put pics from open door day
they include topline alloy rims xenon , full air deflectors side skirts , esp , opticruise retarder half leather seats , fridge, e5 not eev basic frame ( 2bags) and many more for less than 95 they were 90-92-93 something i forget i was drinking thanScania man Thanks this. -
Hahaha that's so true!

Back in Australia pretty much all the trucks doing freight are cab overs the drivers there don't have the comforts in the USA i liked the cab over for driving however if you pretty much living out of your truck like we were in the United States then the bonneted semi's are the way to go with the huge 72' cabs and walk in double bunks .
Scania man Thanks this. -
direct difference between two comparable engines inline and v8 is 299kg (between 420 scr euro 5) and 500 v8 euro 5 when you compare different versions i dont know exact weight because stronger engines than 500 are slightly heavier 10kg or something 730 is 83-4 kg heavier than 500 also overdrive gearbox add 10kg on 620 comparing to 560
400 egr is 84kg lighter than 420 scr
440 egr is 12kg heavier than 400
and 480 18kg than 400
360 is same weight as 400
and scr version add 100kg but did not see any of them here
so even difference between 730 and 400 egr is not that much but only 470kg -
Ireland as u know and I just told u which ones
