It's no problem to lift any tandem. The problem is if the wheels touch the ground and you have a big mess. Solution, engage the brakes on the axle when it's lifted. Have look on a Sisu, they have all lift able 6x4.

All trucks here have diff locks as standard, never seen one without one anyways! Height adjustable air suspension is also standard
. Axle lift is done like and ordinary lift axle, not sure if the drive is disconnected somehow cos usually tandems don't lift I guess this one does cos it's Nordic and needs it for extra traction on ice.
The axles are hub reduction, they are for the real heavy stuff or used for more ground clearance or both, euro axles are much bigger than US ones so the diff casing tends to be very big giving low ground clearance, these are also much stronger but are hard on fuel!
No diff locks? No wonder guys on another thread were complaining that their tags had no traction on slippery surfaces!InTranzit Thanks this. -
Ouh yeah, we have 7600 and 9800i sold there, made in 2012 but like old US cabover. The only new thing is engine made for new emission laws.. Ouh, EBS and disk brakes are available.
But international 7600 is the CHEAPPES IMPORTED TRUCKTOR on market. And it is reliable. Why? No Clutch servo and hydrolics, no EBS, no electronic suspention, no light control modul, no no no no.... Workstar is as simple as possible!!!!! Only domestic trucks are cheapper (MAZ, KRAZ, KAMAZ), but they got so cheap crappy cabins that it seems to impossible find a driver.
Our company got 20 low cost trucktors Renault Premium (Mack Quantum), really cheap versions with small D11 engine and small (but sleeper) cabin. Yep, Mack and Renault are on Volvo gr., but Premium is not FH, cab is smaller, dashboard is cheap, roof is too low, one bunk, narrow bunk. Good news - good ZF tranny (not available on Volvo), good frame! -
I spin out on a spit especially if on a uneven surface. The tandem drives here are only for burning more fuel unnecessarily. They are uses in every way conceiveble. It's just another American blunder that for some unknown reason can't be changed. Sinle drive and tag are extremely rare. Because of crappy suspension design that has a very small limitation on vertical travel, guys complained about getting stuck wen going over uneven surface.
Just can't get thing done right. One stupid idea followed by even a more dumber one.Scania man Thanks this. -
We are running both tandems and tags, the fuel saving with the tags is 1mpg + , that's a lot with today's fuel prices!

Darn thing!
I'm telling y'all, typing on an iPad is a PAIN, .....and than it chooses what it wants if you misspell a word.Scania man Thanks this. -
While you are on things.
A thing I have all ways wondered
Whats the point of this looong frame???? Must be a hell to drive on anything else than dry asphalt, can't be able to get any pressure on the steer axle

Oohhh wouldn't like to be paying the fuel bills on that!!
-
No kidding!
But, you know something? There's still plenty of idiots idling the truck at 1000 rpm all day and all night 24 h non stop for no reason at all.........and not even in the truck.......... Like now, I've got this goober ("midnight") in a f Colombia second truck to my left that,s polluting the air and driving me insane with the screaming Detroit diesel 60 series screaming at 1000 rpm.
Yea dude, there's no way to find any rational thinking in people here. No logic and totally unexplainable. -
Cost $1783 for diff locks on my 08 paccar product in US. You get them as standard equipment. This side of the pond is turning into multi national corporations run amuck!Scania man Thanks this.
